Food is the defining force in every culture in the world. When we think about culture, we think about food. Although there are some who think of food as just our nourishment, it is so much more than that. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world; people are brought together over food. Whether it’s around the kitchen table for family dinner, walking around at a summer solstice festival, a friend’s wake or in a restaurant as a tourist in a foreign land, the food we eat defines us, makes us better and gives us a sense of difference, creativity, and new experiences. Food is who we are.

David Hill was born in the USA in 1970.
David began cooking at his mother’s side as a child. She was a chef in the Los Angeles town where he was born, and with her encouragement, David began his formal training at fourteen years of age. As a young chef, he worked in some of Los Angeles’s greatest restaurants. At the age of 24,David took the advice of a friend and left the native city.
David came to New York in 1994 and very quickly garnered the attention of elite as a chef and eventually his owner restaurant. His dynamic personality and culinary brilliance that bridged tradition and invention made a magnet for the rich and famous, with David as the star attraction. He had an innate understanding of the potential for New York cuisine and was pivotal in its rise to national attention during the late.
