Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
As a lifetime reader of romance novels, I began writing in 2015. My husband comes from a very large and loving family (9 children), and I am a fan of Bella Andre, Jill Shalvis and similar authors. Consequently, I decided to write a series of books romance novels about a big family and how each of the siblings finds the love of their life. I have completed 5 of the planned 10 books in the series.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Book 5, “You Light Up My Life ~ Olivia & Tyler” is complete and will be coming out soon. The phenomenon of a near death experience has always intrigued me, and I wanted to write about how it might affect someone. There’s plenty of twists and turns in this romance along with plenty of steam.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wouldn’t say my writing habits are unusual. Like most serious authors, I write daily – because I enjoy it. Unlike many authors, I don’t usually have a complete outline for the book when I start. Instead, I know about my characters and have a general idea of a theme for the book – such as the near death experience in Book 5.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My favorite book of all times is Gone With the Wind. I must admit sometimes I wanted to take Scarlett O’Hara by the shoulders and ask her, “What in the world are you thinking, girl?” Also, I’ve read the entire Sullivan Series by Bella Andre. She’s the writer who inspired me to write about my husband’s big family, and I loved the super-hot love scenes in her books. Hopefully, my readers will receive similar enjoyment from my books.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on “The Things We Do For Love ~ Luke & Shelly” which will be Book 6 of The Adler Series. Luke and Shelly were featured quite a bit in Book 2 “Bad Case of Lovin’ You ~ Brooke & Zack” and again in Book 5. Luke and Shelly have known each other since they were teenagers and Luke’s had a crush on her all this time. Now he’s a police officer and Shelly is a divorcee with a teenage daughter. Lots of interesting possibilities there, don’t you think?
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I write a blog http://anitalouiseromance.com. I am active on social media (primarily Facebook & Twitter). I do my best to connect with book bloggers and write guest blogs. Local book signings are a fun way to actually meet some of my readers. Sites like https://pretty-hot.com are always great as they help me to connect with readers who may not be familiar with my books.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write about what you love and write the kinds of books you love to read. Get into the habit of writing every day – even if it’s only a few sentences or paragraphs. It’s important to find someone to act as an editor for you so that your book is as mistake free as possible before you publish. Learn as much as you can about how to market and promote your work. And as Winston Churchill is quoted as saying, “Never, never, never give up!”
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Look for the good.” No matter what the situation or how difficult the challenge, if you look for and expect something good to come from it … it will. I firmly believe we find what we look for. “Seek and ye shall find” is TRUE.
What are you reading now?
“Dying to be Me” by Anita Moorjani
“Sam’s Song” by Hannah Howe
What’s next for you as a writer?
My priority is to complete the writing of The Adler Series. From there, I’m not entirely sure. Perhaps a wedding trilogy, or I may delve into a romantic suspense series?
What is your favorite book of all time?
“Gone with the Wind” by Margaret Mitchell
