Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born in the United Kingdom and began my career in fashion before moving to Australia. In Sydney, I went on to develop a successful business in the art world, co-founding art galleries and a successful art publishing company.
I began my journey in spirituality after attending a meditation class with a friend. I went on to train and qualify as an energy healer and spiritual teacher before I began to understand the incredible connection hidden within music and the spiritual energy of the world. I now interpret how to apply this life-changing knowledge in people’s favorite songs while completely transforming their understanding of music and its energy.
I’ve written 3 books; ‘Read my Song, Read my Heart, Read my Soul,’ ‘Soul Music’ and ‘How To Beat Criticism and Feel Good’
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My childhood was turbulent. As a teenager I was often thrown out of my home. Once a month, or even once a week, my father would tell me to leave home. The criticism was never ending and it hurt. Have you felt the pain of criticism? If you are like me you have, so I’ve written my little book, ‘How To Beat Criticism and Feel Good’ to show you that you are not alone and, more importantly, this book offers practical advice and simple techniques to help you beat criticism and feel good. Loving, constructive criticism can be helpful, but let’s face it, how much criticism is truly constructive? Oftentimes receiving criticism is unnecessary and hurtful. If you feel like you are drowning from being told what’s wrong with you, it may be time to say “Enough!” Isn’t it time to reclaim your power and beat criticism? We all deserve to feel good. It’s our natural state of being.
AS a child, I was also a natural clairvoyant and so I am naturally drawn to the invisible, spiritual guidance, the mystical and uncovering the answers to the big questions in life. I work with your favorite songs to intuit your personality report. I call these Song Reads, a type of musically influenced horoscope. These Song Reads are featured in my books, ‘Read my Song, Read my Heart, Read my Soul’ and ‘Soul Music’
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to meditate before I write. In this way I have a nice clean energy body, which helps me to be open guidance and inspiration :))
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love good literature. My favorite book is ‘Disgrace” by J.M. Coetzee. I adore his clipped writing style. He had a badass writing style and writes to the point. He doesn’t mince his words and his style is in some ways shocking, just like his subject matter. I love the title too!
I love William Faulkner’s “The Sound and the Fury.” (I love the title with this book too.)
I also love the classics, such as “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee.
For nonfiction I love the writings and teachings from Paramahansa Yogananda
What are you working on now?
I am writing the book so many people have asked me to write: CELEBRITY SOUL MUSIC, featuring Song Reads (Personality Reports) from your favorite stars 🙂
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This is a great website here at Pretty-Hot.com. Amazon and Goodreads are great too :))
Do you have any advice for new authors?
For this, I will defer to 2 beautiful quotes from my book, How to Beat Criticism and Feel Good
“Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.”
“Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there’s love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.”
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I have received so much good advice
And here’s another quote, with great advice from the same book:
“Find out who you are and do it on purpose.”
What are you reading now?
‘How To Be a Success’ by Paramahansa Yogananda
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to design some beautiful, inspirational oracle cards to help you feel good with words of Inspiration to uplift your soul
What is your favorite book of all time?
The first book I enjoyed and was inspired by was, “My Family and Other Animals” by Gerald Durrell. I loved the Mother character and she inspired me to be a Mother, to my own children, in a creative and fun way 🙂
My favorite book is Coetzee’s, ‘Disgrace’
