Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written four books. My first is under another name. And I have two sitting on my computer. Being under a different genre to my current book – Entrance(Contemporary Romance), I thought I would stick to that genre first before throwing quirky books into the mix..
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Entrance – Book 1 of the Thornhill Trilogy. I wanted to write a heart-aching romance with strong erotic elements. For the storyline, I actually drew some inspiration from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. It is not exactly like it, of course. But I liked the idea of a young innocent, super intelligent girl getting a job for an elusive, enigmatic handsome man who happened to be rich. Like Rochester, Aidan Thornhill regrets his past and carries secrets, while Clarissa Moone, like Jane Eyre is an erudite, soulful, deep character who enchants and enthrals her new boss.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Nothing that I’m aware of.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Too many to mention, but here goes – Emily&Charlotte Bronte, George Eliot, Jane Austen, Stendhal, Balzac, Flaubert, Somerset-Maugham, Georgette Heyer, Jacqueline Sussan, Harold Robbins, E L James, Sylvia Day, Sophie Jackson. That is a just a short list of the ones to come to mind in an instant.
What are you working on now?
The second, and third(final) instalment of the Thornhill trilogy.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
To be honest, it’s a blur. I am relatively new to this game. I have been bleeding cash when it comes to promotion. I wish I knew who is the best when it comes to getting my book out there. There are countless romance novels being published. I am certain it’s the promotion companies who are making a fortune in this bloated market. I have no idea how indie writers earn anything with so many free books about.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up your day job. Write because you love it.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t use a long word when a short one will do. George Orwell.
What are you reading now?
Envy by Anna Godbersen
What’s next for you as a writer?
Another steamy contemporary romance series.
What is your favorite book of all time?
What a difficult question! I have read so many I love. For now, I will say, Madame Bovary by Flaubert. But to be honest, there are so many others that I love just as much. Mill on the floss(Eliot), Nana, Ana Karenina, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Middlemarch, Lady of the Camelias, Scarlet and Black, Les Miserable, and so on and so on.
