Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Fierce in a sparkly kind of way, Kadee Carder brings hope, adventure, and thrill wherever she writes. The goal is magic, the medium is ink, and the fuel is coffee. And sometimes pizza. I teach writing on the university level when I’m not dancing around the living room with my family, lifting heavy at the gym, traveling the planet (on foot or Google maps), or bingeing superhero shows.
The INSURRECTION trilogy, IGNITE, and soon-to-be-released HERE BE DRAGONS roll out perilous motives, twisty plots, and daring protagonists. Grab some real estate and your copy of her latest book, and follow along on social media.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
HERE BE DRAGONS is my most recent book! In the challenge of entering the publishing world, I found many more trials than I imagined. I began to explore the ideas of — what do I do when the job is tougher than it needs to be? Can I handle it? What’s the real mission involved with writing and doing those great tasks I must accomplish? Does the monster lay out there in the world, or is it in me? And I let my main character, Tucker, get to take on his own unruly world of monsters to see what we could do with it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to go on daily walks, listen to music, and while I do so, dream about my plots. Then I go home and write until the scene’s finished.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Madeleine L’Engle, “Walking On Water”; Stephen King, “On Writing”
What are you working on now?
Deadlight — a follow-up/finish to the ideas began in my Insurrection trilogy. A final spinoff.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Blogging. I find that readers like to see what goes into the process and the daily life challenges, and to be encouraged!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Get ready for a ride! It’s harder than you think, but if you find writing worth it to you, then it’s worth it. Don’t worry about the naysayers. Find your tribe and write for them.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Easy is earned. ~ Jade Teta
What are you reading now?
“Loving What Is,” by Byron Katie
What’s next for you as a writer?
Ongoing blogging, the release of Here Be Dragons, and finishing Deadlight.
