Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a 28 year old Southern California surfer and musician, and I spend most of my time with my dogs or my instruments. Some call me a creative power house, and I take interest in multiple disciplines of art and expression, whether it be writing, music production, or design of some sort.
I’ve written a number of books, however only published one thus far, and I am currently working on my second that I will push for publication.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“The Death Of The Phoenix: Rise,” is a book that wears many hats, if you will. It was foremost a collection of poetry and inner glimpses of reflection and growth, throughout a very dark period in my life.
I like to use the phrase, “Tragedy- turned- Triumph.”
It stands as a philosophical prose and observational wisdoms accrued throughout my short life experience thus far. Most of all, it is the first insight to highly abusive relationship I mistakenly was subject to, and the core theme all stems from that, I suppose as the motivation for it all.
After having stared real darkness in the face, I knew immediately, that this adversity was something or some force that needs to be stood up against, because we all naturally have the ability to do so.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes. Many, some might think.
Ultimately, my ideal writing scene is at a private lake near my house, where I can go isolate myself with nature and simply act as translator for the natural inspiration all around me, and let it flow into words that hopefully sound right.
Other times, I stay up all night writing until something makes sense.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Poe, undoubtedly…. Allan Ginsberg,
Its an eclectic mix, but I also perform hips hop and spoken word, so much of it is dually inspired by of few of my favorite hip hop artists as well.
Conveniently, some readers have also drawn parallels between myself and these artists. That really kept me going as if i were on the right path or something.
Names, in particular but no specific order, ranging from Slug from Atmosphere or anyone from Living Legends really, Tech 9, NF, Some real articulate architects right there.
What are you working on now?
As always, musical pieces here and there, but book-wise, I’m working on my next piece regarding a natural understanding of consciousness and existence, and using the physics of sound to reach that understanding.
Everything I speak about in Death of the Phoenix, and this upcoming book, is all learned from personal survey of sound and music, and really any energy where the wavelengths and frequencies are observable to some degree.
I never took a physics class or higher level maths, and its rather intriguing to watch people react to that fact after we’ve had an in depth conversation about the matter.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Self promotion, I’m still working on being shameless about it all.
Amazon, Social Media, Gofundme, things like that.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up under any circumstance. Just adapt and reinvent yourself. The feeling you’ll get knowing that you didn’t give up, even if you don’t sell more than 5 copies, will astound you.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
It is better to ask for forgiveness, than permission.
What are you reading now?
7 Laws for Spiritual Success by Deepak Chopra
PURE GOLD
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m working step by step with my music projects and often times that gives me inspiration as well. So well see where that takes me. In the mean time, I just enter random writing contests here and there as well as music contests.
What is your favorite book of all time?
You know, I honestly can not name just one, because I like a number of books for different reasons.
The first books that came to mind, were an older book I read as a kid,
“Bud, Not Buddy.”
I really like Dan Brown’s first couple books, but If I had to pick just one, I would probably have to say, something like
“Milk and Honey.”
