Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am the proud mother of four wonderful children. They’re sweet as pie–when they’re sleeping. Who am I kidding? Four kids fight like cats and dogs and run around like headless chickens in a horse race. But they’re wonderful, nonetheless.
My family has supported me as I’ve written seven books. I am editing the eighth one, as we speak. It will be ready for release in a month or so. I am a huge fan of Paranormal/Gothic Romance.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book’s title is Tortured Soul (The Forbidden Series 2). As I watched the news and heard of all the world’s injustice, I imagined a world where criminals (rapist, murderers, child molesters, etc.) couldn’t fly under the radar. The justice system seems so corrupt that it occurred to me to write about angelic assassins who wouldn’t allow the evil-doers to run free. These assassins would act as judge, jury, and executioners on the criminals’ victim’s behalf.
My angelic assassins are as hot as they are dangerous, fueling the flames of passion in one certain human woman as they rain hellfire down on their marks-black souls.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write better when I am sitting at my mother-in-law’s kitchen table. I mean, who really gets along with their mother-in-law that well. She brings me coffee, food, and much love.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Although I began writing The Forbidden Series a few years before Cassandra Clare [a buddy of mine :)], author of The Mortal Instruments and the inspiration for the television series Shadowhunters, as I wrote the second book Tortured Soul, she inspired me so much.
In my early years, authors such as VC Andrews, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and Anne Rice were my favorite authors. Frequently, I dreamed of becoming as good a storyteller as any one of the aforementioned writers. At age 5, I began reading and since then, the love for a good story has only grown by bounds.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on the first of a series that is yet unnamed, but the 1st book title is Dante’s Embrace. It is the story of a young man who has a secret, one his mother kept from him until he was old enough to understand the extent of its severity. When he finally learns what he is, he has trouble controlling his powers, but only after a disaster that costs him his mother’s life does he realize that not even he knows exactly what he’s capable of. Until he meets the smart, sexy, and powerful Gracie, an apprentice at the Waywood Academy, does he desire control over his power, for his touch is hotter than fire, and his flaming passion for her is even hotter.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly, I’m still learning the ins and outs of promotion. As soon as I learn the secret, I’ll let everyone know. 🙂
Do you have any advice for new authors?
New authors, please don’t ever give up. Research, research, research! And find a good mentor or a few. You can never get too much advice–but sift through it. Everyone has their own niche, and you’ll learn what works for you. Just keep writing stories, pushing yourself, and learning as much as you can about the book world. It’s ever-evolving.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write every day. No matter what. Even if it’s a sentence.
What are you reading now?
Cassandra Clare’s Lady Midnight.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’d love to mentor other authors and reach the New York Times Best-Seller’s List.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Anne Rice-Asher
