Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a frequently published author with 16 books in print. I’ve published with major houses (Doubleday, Harlequin, Manor Books, Pinnacle and others) as well as Indie. And I’ve published fiction non-fiction, articles, comic books and more. Currently, I’m writing with a partner, but have published frequently on my own.
Writing has been my life-long pursuit. I also have a blog for those interested, the address is below.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The major project I’m working on is Medicare Wars Pamphlets (a series of six) but I have two major projects going at once. Both are with my writing partner, Charlene Brash-Sorensen.
The first is our current passion, Medicare Wars Pamphlets – which will be complete with a series of six. Designed to help people understand Medicare, it’s history, and how to make the most of it. In this political climate, it’s become a passion of ours. The first two in the series are available on Amazon in Kindle and paperback editions and the third is currently n the works.
Simultaneously we’re creating a comic book series available on Amazon in Kindle and paperback editions called Planet Of The Eggs. The first vol. has six adventures and we’re working on the sixth to complete the first vol. right now. The inspiration for this one was simply eggs and a very strange conversation we were having one day while driving in the car between cities.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if they’re unusual, but I do have a standing desk or rather one I can raise and lower. I spend part of the day standing and part sitting when I work.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have had many influences. Some from quite a while back and some more recent. Mostly those are influences regarding my fictional writing and a few of them were Stephen King, Orson Scott Card, Jennifer Roberson, Louis L’mour, and a host of others. More recently I’ve found J.K. Rowing very inspirational.
As to books, I read pretty much everything so it’s hard to pinpoint one, or a handful, that was a big influence over the others.
What are you working on now?
Medicare Wars Pamphlet three is in the works. So is The final adventure in the comic series The Egg Chronicles: Planet Of the Eggs. The title is Worlds Collide. I also have a paranormal romance that’s about 3/4 of the way through the first draft which I’ll be getting back to soon.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I haven’t found a BEST method yet!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write. It sounds trite, but that’s the best advice. Write because the more you do the better you’ll get. And don’t let other people tell you you can’t. Just learn all you can about it and write.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
In addition to being an art, writing is also a craft and a business. Don’t guard your work so jealously that you don’t publish and expose it to the world.
What are you reading now?
Just finished Dean Koontz’s Ashley Bell, am reading a romance called Simon and I have a couple of non-fiction books I read a chapter or two from on promotion and writing each day.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ll be finishing up the Medicare Wars series – completing the romance and the first Vol. of Planet of the Eggs, then no doubt moving on to more Egg adventures. Meanwhile, I have a screen script with a producer who’s working at arranging funding which, should it reach development, would no doubt require rewrites.
