Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I spent many years in various business management positions. Burnt out and over worked I decided it was time for a change. With the support of my family, I wrote my very first novel The Chronicles of a Windstorm Makaila’s Story : A Framed Lily this year 2017 and self-published it with the help of Amazon in September 2017. The book is in the multicultural/interracial romance genre. This has been a dream come true. I am hoping with your help my book will become a success and inspire others.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my book is, The Chronicles of a Windstorm Makaila’s Story : A Framed Lily. It is my first baby of what I hope to be many more to come. Writing has been something I have always been passionate about, but I never had enough time to focus on it. During one of the lowest points in my life, I decided to get back to writing as a way to express myself. I quit my job and focused all my free time (When I am not taking care of my family.) to the development of this book.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t know if this unusual, but I can’t write with no background noise. Maybe it is because I have a big family and I am just used to a lot of things going on.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love books on love, especially interracial love. I think the world needs to see beyond color, so I typically read books in this genre. The first book I read in this genre was by Sadie Black. From that point on I was addicted. I read a lot of books published by Jessica Watkins. Her books and the authors associated with her have influenced me to read and write more. There are so many authors to chose from, but I would have to say Phoenix Daniels, Amarie Avant, and Stephanie James are my top three.
What are you working on now?
The Chronicles of a Windstorm Maci’s Story. It is the second book in a series that ends in book three. So stay tuned for that!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
This one of course!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
This has been an eye opening journey. I thought the hard part was writing the book. But when I decided to self-publish and then having to promote it and all the things that go along with branding yourself and your work, I found out what a challenge that can be. So my advice is to do your research first. Make goals, pace yourself and keep believing in what your doing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Focus on one day at a time.
What are you reading now?
The Cowboys Nanny by Emerson Rose
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to complete the series, The Chronicles of a Windstorm, after that, I will be moving on to my next writing adventure.
What is your favorite book of all time?
I don’t have one. I love them all!
