Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Stacy Eaton is a police officer by profession. Currently, she is working as the department detective and enjoys digging into cases and putting the pieces of the puzzles together.
Stacy resides in southeastern Pennsylvania and is the wife to a police officer and the mother of two. She is very proud of her son who is currently serving in the United States Navy and equally proud of her eleven year old daughter who works hard in her Tae Kwon Do studies.
When Stacy is not working her demanding job, or spending time with her family, she works on her business and currently serves on the Board of Directors for her local Domestic Violence Center. When there is time, she writes.
To date, I have written 10 novels. A few of them are Paranormal Romance, a few more Romantic Suspense and the last couple are about Domestic Violence.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest written book is Barbara’s Plea. It is a romantic suspense novel that I wrote in 5 days. The inspiration is what caused this story to flow so quickly and need to get out. You can actually read a post I did on my website about how this book was came to concept: http://www.stacyeaton.com/people-who-inspire-the-characters
My latest release is the re-release of My Blood Runs Blue. It is the first book I ever wrote, and back then I didn’t have the kind of editors that I do now. The original story was an International Best Seller on Amazon several times, but I felt that it could use a good clean up. Earlier this year, I pulled it from the shelves, along with book 2, Blue Blood for Life, and had them both re-edited. My Blood Runs Blue was officially re-released on December 19, 2014. Better and Hotter than ever!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have a tendency not to write for a while and then my characters practically take over my brain forcing me to sit down and write. When I do sit down and have a few days, I get a lot done.
I wrote Six Days of Memories in 28 days and Barbara’s Plea in 5. When I have the time to sit and write, it is not unusual for me to write 12K-16K a day.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I noticed on my Kindle the other day that I have 710 downloaded books. I have probably read over three quarters of them. It’s hard to say what specific author or books influenced me. I think I take a little bit out of many of them, and sometimes it’s good stuff, sometimes its what not to do.
What are you working on now?
Currently, I am working on writing the third book in the My Blood Runs Blue Series entitled Mixing the Blue Blood. There of course, is a fourth and final book to that series that needs to be written, Blue Bloods Final Destiny. I’m also in the process of doing edits for Blue Blood for Life, and Barbara’s Plea.
I have another book, You’re Not Alone, that is waiting in line to head off to an editor and another series that I am jotting notes down on as they come to me.
Right behind that, I need to finish writing Garda 2 and Second Shield 2.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Bah! This is the worst part of writing; the marketing. I use Facebook and Twitter religiously, but there are many more sites that I am looking into and trying out. Pretty-Hot.com is one of them and I’m excited to be here!
I also recently purchased a sweatshirt that says “You are dangerously close to being killed in my novel” and I found that when I wear that, I need to have business cards on me because people ask me about my books constantly.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Best advice: Grow a thick skin. Some people will love you, others will hate you. Learn to shrug off the negative and be positive in what you are doing and who you are.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Wow, that’s a hard one. I think the best advice I ever received was what I just gave out, grow a thick skin. Not that I didn’t already have one, but there are times I need to remind myself of it. There are some plain old mean people out there that will do and say anything to hurt you or make others think of you in a bad light. I refuse to acknowledge them. I know who I am and what I am capable of, they don’t.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m catching up on J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood books. I didn’t get a chance to read her last few, so every night I read about 30 to 40 minutes right before I fall off to sleep.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Grow a second pair of hands, lol…. and another brain! I wish, right! Who couldn’t use that!
Actually, I have at least another 5 years at my job, if not 10 and then I will be looking at retiring and writing full time. I’d love to be able to do that in 5 years, we shall see.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Wow, I couldn’t even tell you. I have read so many awesome books, by some many incredible authors. Of course, I love JR Ward and all of her books. I also recently read a story by Russel Blake that I LOVED, Less Than Nothing. Melissa Foster is another one of my favorite authors with all her romance novels.
