Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an amateur genealogist and through my nearly 2 decades of ancestry research, have discovered numerous famous family members in the UK, Canada and the USA. By combining my love of family history with my love for writing, I have created my initial novel which combines family fact and fantasy.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My current book is Bloodlines: Cove Point Manor. The story was inspired by the discovery of several famous, wealthy US family members and the tragedies that fell upon the family.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really, I write often and when I do write, it can be for as little as a few minutes at a time or for hours on end. I like to picture the scenes and characters in my head as if I were watching the story unfold in a movie.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Charles Dickens, H.G. Wells and Stephen King all influence me.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on my second book tentatively called Bloodlines: Of Royal Blood. This will be a sequel to my initial novel.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still very much in the learning process of promoting my books, but I have found that word of mouth is the greatest promotion tool.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write about what you know best, and then ask yourself the question “what if?” and fill in the blanks. No matter whether you feel the story is good or not, finish it and then go back and make changes as you see fit. Writing should be fun, not work, so if you need a break, walk away and then go back when you are in the correct mindset.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Finish your story.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am focused on writing my sequel to my first novel.
What is your favorite book of all time?
The Stand by Stephen King.
