Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I spent some time in military intelligence, and got to rub elbows with former US special operatives. Being around those people, and in that environment, gave me a lot of exposure to what the clandestine ops game looks like in real life
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The latest book is the first in a fiction series: The Scions of Terra. The idea actually just came to me one day, when I was working, I believe. The idea places a spy novel with many moving pieces in a futuristic backdrop, it was quite a fun combination to create.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
A lot of ideas for humor and sudden twists come to me, so dialogue does not tend to happen as expected, and I believe that readers will enjoy it
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I enjoyed The Teeth of the Tiger by Tom Clancy. The secrecy, the clandestine nature of the operatives’ work, all was very fun to read.
What are you working on now?
Right now I am looking forward to the next installment of the Scions of Terra, which continues immediately after the ending of the first book.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I just appreciate the help of whoever is offering, to be honest.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Readers want to take a trip somewhere enjoyable, and a book, in a nutshell, is a cheap way to do that. Like a good travel agent, find out what they like, and take them on a vacation. Don’t pull punches, but don’t ever write to bash anyone–if you want to make social commentary, prop up behaviors you agree with, instead. And if tragedy must come in the story, make sure that it improves the story–in some way. If your readers lose a loved character, seemingly for no reason, they’ll turn off to you right away–you’re the travel agent that gave them a hotel in a bad part of town and got their wife mugged. If your readers feel abused at the end of the story, they won’t likely come back for your next one, and your reviews will probably lose stars.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Receive the Lord Jesus Christ.
What are you reading now?
Right now I am working day and night on the books, to be honest.
What’s next for you as a writer?
The next book in the series
What is your favorite book of all time?
My next one–stay tuned.
