Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
So, by day, I’m an author and by night, I’m a freelance sports journalist. Freelancing allows me the freedom to do more things I enjoy. I live in central Indiana with my husband, three parrots, two dogs. I love spending time with my author friends.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Angel’s Collar is my latest, although I have two soon to be released books. Originally, it was going to be a short story I was going to put on Wattpad. To get some feedback, I entered into a contest and got a request for a full read from Wild Rose Press. The story turned into a 52,000 word novel and series with two additional books. One soon to be released and one in the early stages of editing.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
If I really want to push myself to work, listen to smooth jazz on my TV music station. I don’t really like jazz that much, and so it keeps me from singing along and distracting my work.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve always been a fan of Kat Martin and Julia Quinn. My writing is not like theirs, but I developed my love of romance novels from them.
What are you working on now?
I’m in the editing stages of the third book of the Love Strictly Tested series which is Angel’s Collar, Sabrina’s Seduction, and Jordan’s Trials. Also, I’m writing a third book in my contemporary romance Heart series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I think author event signings and being a part of author groups is very helpful finding readers.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t stop. It’s hard work and some days you will feel like a total failure, but then when you see your book in print, it’s the greatest feeling in the world. Keep writing. Your story might be exactly what someone is looking for.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be true to your story. I got that from Aleatha Romig as a time, I was questioning the story I was working on, and I stayed true to MY story, and I love it and am proud of it.
What are you reading now?
I’m reading a romantic suspense by Lisa Caviness. It’s a series and the third book is called the Order of Rage.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have files for 8 or 9 books I have ideas for, but I have a romantic suspense I really want to bring to life.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Oddly enough, it’s a nonfiction book called A Walk Across America by Peter Jenkins. It was written in the 1970’s and is about a man and his dog walking across the U.S. It makes you feel every emotion,
