Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have been a writer for a number of years. I guess I would describe myself as a quiet, pleasant person that devoured books as a child which fuelled my passion for writing. After writing some short stories, I finally published my first novel, The Fall of the House of James in June 2018. The second novel I’ve written, Always A Slave was published in February 2019.
I’m currently working on my third novel, A Slaves Vow, which I will be hoping to publish later this year.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book, Always A Slave, has some of the themes which were in the first book in The James Saga, The Fall of the House of James, the difficulties of having an interracial relationship in the Deep South in the 19th century, the barbaric nature of slavery and the turmoil that two of the main characters are going through; Lawrence James, who doesn’t want to be a slave owner and Donald Archer, who doesn’t want to be a slave.
The Fall of the House of James is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Apple iBooks, Playster and Scribd.
Always A Slave is available on Amazon.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Oh, this is a tough one. I guess I used to write my novels in A5 Notebooks, before typing them up. I know it’s kind of nonsensical which is why I now type them straight into my laptop instead.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
This is a really difficult question to answer as I have read so many books over the years. I would probably say that during my childhood, Roald Dahl, Paula Danziger and Rosa Guy were big influences. Nowadays, I like reading anything by Graham Masterton, Martina Cole or James Patterson as I always tend to write more after I’ve read one of their books.
What are you working on now?
Currently, I am working on my third novel, A Slave’s Vow which I will publish sometime this year. I’m hoping it will be in late summer.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Apart from this website and Awesome Gang, I have not used any other websites to promote my books, but I do hope to use more in the future.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
The only advice I would have to new authors is to not give up. I’m not going to be dishonest. Writing is a hard business with precious few financial rewards at the beginning. However, if new authors have some resilience and try to tough out the lean times, then they should be successful in the end. As authors, we have to realise writing is a long term, not a short term career and that you won’t become a millionaire overnight unless you are extremely lucky. I’ve only been publishing my own novels for less than a year and I’ve made mistakes. Maybe, one day, I’ll write about them so new authors can avoid doing the same thing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
The best advice I’ve been given is to keep preserving with what I’m doing and that it will take time before I see the full benefits of my writing.
What are you reading now?
I’ve just finished reading Odd Child Out by Gilly Macmillan. It is a beautifully written story about the friendship between two boys from vastly different backgrounds.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am currently typing up the manuscript for my third novel, A Slave’s Vow. Once this is done, I will be editing the novel and hoping to release it before the end of the year.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Unfortunately, I cannot pick one book as I have read so many great books over the years.
So, I’ll pick three-
The Friends by Rosa Guy
We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver
Daughter by Asha Bandele
