Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Cassie Pigg. I am no one special. I’m not famous. Insta-what? I am ambitious. I cuss like a sailor. If you have issues with profanity, don’t buy this book. I’ve always been a party girl. I love to laugh, and I love with my whole entire heart. I am a mother. And I have a tramp stamp. “Mommy’s Got a Tramp Stamp” is my story.
I have published 2 books, “Mommy’s Got a Tramp Stamp” and “Postpartum Depression & Anxiety.” Maternal mental health is my passion, and I hope that my work can help new moms in need.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
1 in 5 mothers in the US suffer from postpartum depression, and they need all the support available. I am sharing my story in an effort to help new mothers. Motherhood can be a difficult journey, and my goal is to make sure moms are equipped with the necessary resources for survival. Suicide is the 2nd highest cause of mortality postpartum, and this is unacceptable. The stigma surrounding perinatal mental health needs to end. Like, right now.
I am lucky enough to have survived my battle, but many mamas are not so lucky. Most people do not even know what Postpartum Depression is until it comes bursting into their lives. My goal is to raise awareness and help new mamas feel comfortable vocalizing their emotions postpartum.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am simply a very, very real mom, and my writing reflects that. My writing style is relatable, funny, and informative.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
“Let’s Pretend this Never Happened” by Jenny Lawson.
“You are a Badass” by Jen Sincero.
“Furiously Happy” by Jenny Lawson.
“Girl, Stop Apologizing” by Rachel Hollis.
What are you working on now?
Since Mommy’s Got a Tramp Stamp just released, I am currently focusing on promoting it. I plan to write a sequel to the tragedy. Mommin is freaking hard, so I’m sure my toddler will provide plenty of material.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I primarily use the socials: Facebook, Insta, and Pinterest.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just freaking write. Find your passion and let it flow. The frame of mind is so important. You have to be in a good place mentally for everything to flow.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
A manager once told me, “you can get away with anything, as long as you do it with a smile eon your face.”
What are you reading now?
“White Trash” by Nancy Isenberg.
What’s next for you as a writer?
The sky is the limit. I would like to eventually be able to quit my “day job” and write full time.
What is your favorite book of all time?
“Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens.
