Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a relatively new author. I published my first book last year and the next book, Dreams of Thunder will be released on Amazon on October 3rd. There are several other books I’ve written, but haven’t published. They’re all in the sci-fi/fantasy genre.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Dreams of Thunder was inspired by The Magicians and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I was binge-watching these shows on Netflix so I just decided to write about magic.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to have a glass of water near me while I’m writing.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My biggest influences are J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, K.A. Applegate, Orson Scott Card, and Isaac Asimov.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on the third book in my series, Dreams of Light.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I like to promote myself through gigs I find on Fiverr and also Bookbub and Booksprout.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write consistently. Even when you don’t feel like writing, force yourself to do it. Especially if you work a full time job. Your time is valuable so you might as well use it to improve your craft.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Nobody else knows what they’re doing either.
What are you reading now?
I am reading Olympos by Dan Simmons.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Movie deal! Just kidding. Unfortunately, I must look for an actual job soon. (My savings won’t last forever.) But I will still keep writing, though probably at a reduced capacity.
What is your favorite book of all time?
That’s a tough question! Maybe Eye of the World by Robert Jordan. The worlds that he creates are so immersive it almost fries my brain. When I read the last page of this book I was already hungry for more.
