Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born and raised in Oakland, California. Graduating from California State University, East Bay (CSUEB), I am an actor and model with various projects in post-production. I make my debut in a featured film later this year or in 2020.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Blaxpride is the name of my latest book. Looking for an American born black man to be a hero is what inspired me, but I also wanted to show that you can stand up for what’s right and be nowhere near perfect. I also based alot of characters off people close to me in life and I wanted to showcase how I feel about them on paper. Blaxpride does that.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Honestly, a lot of novels started off as scripts or series proposals that I decided to convert into books.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I wouldn’t say a particular author has inspired me, but I do say that I nitpicked the story telling to a way that I can visualize the dialogue.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on part 2 to Blaxpride and various film projects. One of my goals is to have Blaxpride go so viral that someone would want to turn it into a series. Maybe one day I’ll be playing Blaxpride. =)
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I just want to trust my instincts. I usually promote via Linkedin and Instagram. Directing traffic and keeping my name trending is what I am trying to gain.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. People will tell you all the time to be politically correct but if you did that, we’d all be the same.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Just be patient. Nothing more to that honestly.
What are you reading now?
I’m not really in the middle of reading anything.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Most of my daytime is spent brainstorming new ideas for future novels. I want to build on Blaxpride. I want Blaxpride to become a franchise that is relatable from the protagonist to the supporting characters.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Slam by Walter Dean Meyers. The fact that it touched on drug addiction and anger is what I loved about it.
