Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hey y’all! I’m a Texas girl and a wife and a mom to a preteen boy and a pitbull. So far I’ve written 2 novellas and 5 novels.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called The Thing About Goodbye. It’s a YA/NA romance, and the first one in this genre of romance that I’ve written. I was actually sitting on my couch on Thanksgiving, after the food had been put away but before the shopping started, so full I could barely move and listening to my sisters talk, and in the way that it sometimes does, the muse struck and I had to write Camille’s story.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
When I’m in the thick of a manuscript and I really need to focus I play instrumental music and eat hard candy. I wrote The Thing About Goodbye playing Carter Burwell’s “Twilight” film score over and over while eating all the cinnamon disks.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Nora Roberts and Kristen Ashley. I started reading Nora when I was fourteen and I knew that I wanted to write then but it was Kristen Ashley who inspired me to quit making excuses and started publishing already.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on Nomad now. He will be book two in my Mischief Makers MC series. I’m so excited about his book because not only is he a member of the motorcycle club, he’s also a truck driver and I get to explore his travels some. I grew up on an eighteen-wheeler so I am stoked to write about it!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write the words down, even when you hate them. Keep going. Have a stranger read your book first. Pay for a professional editor, even though it can be expensive and always, always make sure you have a high quality cover.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Build your platform first. This will be so important to your future success.
What are you reading now?
Currently, I haven’t started my next book yet but my last book to read was Detour by Maren Lee (READ IT!!) and the book I am planning to start tonight is Praying for Rain by BB Easton.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Book, all the books.
Later this year I will be finishing the last book in my Texas Hearts series and adding adding two more to the Mischief Makers MC series and I am also working on a paranormal duet for late this year. I write what I’m passionate about and there is a whole lot there so next year it could be steam punk or time travel. The beauty in being an author is that I can do it all!
What is your favorite book of all time?
Wooooow. This is SUCH an unfair question. I’m breaking the rules and giving you more than one. 😉
The Windflower – Laura London
Montana Sky – Nora Roberts
Sweet Dreams – Kristen Ashley
Easy – Tammara Webber
