Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Ivory Raven, and I have written more than seven books. (two of which are published) the rest are still in the editing phase and will be out soon enough!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book was the final volume of ‘A Desire’ Trilogy. (it’s called, A Desire for Salvation)
It basically concludes the adventures of Michael; and his Desire to be free.
My inspiration was mostly taken from the people I’ve encountered.
I’ve been all around the globe, and met A LOT of different people (each with their own mentality)
From there, I was able to illustrate some of their approached to life in a form of a character. Those characters inspired both me (the author) and Michael (the protagonist).
So yeah, you could say that I got all the inspiration I needed from those I encountered around the world!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
As a matter of fact I do!
First, I hate to write while sitting in my house. I just cant!
instead, I would go as far as booking a flight ticket to Japan; just to find the peace of mind! (quite an expensive habit if you ask me)
Another habit as suppose is that I love to write big chunks of text at a time. Meaning, I have no problems typing 4000 words in an eight hours session! As exhausting as it may seems, I got used to it quite easily!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Books have always influenced me as an author; and even as a human!
I do, however, have a certain taste for book (especially novels)
Frankly, I do enjoy dark novels as opposed to others. for instance, I remember back when i first read Dexter (By Jeff Lindsay) It was quite phenomenal! I will go as far as saying that the show was ‘meh’ compared to the original novel!
Another great author Araki Hirohiko. While technically he’s a Mangaka (Japanese comics author) the storytelling of his was something quite interesting. He was the author of ‘Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures’; and every part of that series was well crafted.
Of course, there are a lot more of authors which I admire and have always enjoyed reading from.
What are you working on now?
As of now, I’m working on a fantasy series based in Japan. It’s a collaboration with a Japanese author called Masaki Jin.
We have book 1 done, and ready for editing. now we’re both working on the second book; hoping to finish it by June!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
For the time being, I only use KDP Advertising services. I just feel that they’re convenient and simple to use.
But of course, I’m planning to expand my marketing strategy in the upcoming months!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t stop writing!
I know you’ve probably heard this everywhere. but just do yourself a favor and don’t stop typing those words!
Because, frankly, everyone of us has a story deep inside… It’s just a matter of putting it on a piece of paper using your own unique style.
oh, and one more advice…
Don’t ever listen to your closest friend telling you to ‘Just stop this. You’ll never be a writer!’
Those type of people should be cut of your life, in order to achieve anything in this field!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“No two authors are the same.”
You might go ahead and analyze every best seller out there, but in the end, you have your own style! your own way to express your thoughts!
So i decided to leave everyone else, and just focus on me. I developed my own style and
What are you reading now?
Unfortunately, I’m not reading anything at the moment; mostly because I have to edit three books on my own!
But as usual, I have tons of books sitting next to me (waiting to be read!)
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m now trying to be heard out there. My first step is to find a literally agent. From there, I’m looking to be known in the market; and hopefully, i can get published with one of the main publishing companies!
What is your favorite book of all time?
This is a really hard question,
But if i were to choose one, I’m gonna have to go with ‘Jeff Lindsay’s Dexter’.
The story is just deep and dark enough to get me going! I enjoyed the books, and the TV series.
