Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
This is my first written and published book. I grew up in Syracuse, NY in a Catholic family. My lifelong dream was to be a movie writer. K-12 school was not my thing. I was bullied, humiliated, and left alone for much of my school career. While I had friends here and there, I never quite fit-in with any one crowd. Through that process, I began to lose my faith and became extremely depressed and anxiety-riddled. I went to college and got degree in Electronic Media Communications and Creative Writing. From there, I went to School out in Southern California where I studied Communications and Theology, where I lived and stayed for four years. After my most severe battle of anxiety and depression in 2017, I left school and returned home to recover. It was through my greatest struggle ever that I realized my love for writing Christianity and my desire to help & inspire people. Twenty-Five years old and still going!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Story of 1000 Testimonies By Jason Ryan. My main inspiration was wanting to help change the world, forever, for the better. I realize that the time we have on this earth is extremely short in relation to the existence of the world and the universe (& eternity, for that matter). I want to leave a lasting imprint and a lasting legacy of my name that can help others find Jesus as their Lord & Savior, while also have people live love-centered lives. When I say love-centered lives, that’s not just love for those closest to you, but extending that kindness and patience to all those around you, strangers and enemies alike. Love as a feeling is wasted if its not love-in-action as well.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Every time I write I try and do something completely different. In this particular book, I wrote both Fiction and Non Fiction stories. All the Non Fiction stories were accredited to the people who’s real lives they were, either below the title or in the Testimonial section at the end of the story. I can’t think of too many books that combined Fiction and Non Fiction writings into one. Another thing I did was use more than one form of storytelling. I had many stories written in standardized formatting. I also have a poem (Calling All Angels), a song (Jesus!) and a few different rhyming schemes used throughout the book at various random times (I would tell you, but I can’t give it all away).
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The Bible is as big an influence as any book I have read. It is one of the only books ever written where the author reveals himself to you for you to live the best love-centered lives possible. The New Testament is what inspired by structured format. Just like the 27 books that consist of the New Testament, Story of 1000 Testimonies consists of 27 different stories as well. The great thing about the Bible is how it has influenced me greatly in living a love-centered life without shame. Since God is the world’s greatest role model, why not try and follow in such perfect footsteps?
What are you working on now?
I am working on three different books right now. One of them is on proving God’s existence beyond the shadow of a doubt. That’s going to take a lot of time, but the end result should be something spectacular if it’s done right by him. I’m also working on my auto Biography where I tell the tale of how I went from Roman Catholic to Hardcore Atheist to loving Born-again Christian Again. While Christianity is a big part of my life, I will not be spending every book writing on my Christian Faith. There’s plenty more to write about and a lifetime ahead.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Its my first time at writing and promoting a book so I can’t say I have a definitive answer yet (rest assured, when I find that answer, I will definitely share it with the world!). However, I would advise other first time author’s with a low budget to try all the free and cheap-promotional tools first. Try Facebook, an e-mail list started all your own, Twitter, and any other free platform you can think of. There’s plenty of channels to use your voice on the internet. Use them all and let your voice be heard.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write from your soul. The word’s that you write will be left behind long after you have died. Let people read who you are, what you have to teach. Let people read what you have to share and inspire and let them feel the journey as if they were writing it themselves. We can’t control whether or not our work will be loved, bought, or shared. But we can all control what we write and how we share the beautiful stories that reside in our minds and in our hearts.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“What you can control, you must control”. this was advice given to me by my English teacher in College, Professor Jim Place. An Incredibly intense, smart, funny man with a heart of Gold.
What are you reading now?
I’m reading as many Christian centered books as possible for the next books that I’ll be writing ahead. Not one book in particular, but I’m always reading and following the word’s of the Bible. We’ll see what the results hold in store.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Continuing to Inspire the world through my writing, one book at a time. This book was written to speak to the Christian heart. My book will be written to the Christian Mind. (If you’re not religious, I strongly encourage you to give them a read. At the very least, you’ll further understanding the inner makings of the hearts and mind of your Christian Counterparts. At the most, you’ll be accepted by him and embraced my many of us, with me first in line!) After that, I’ll let God take control and lead me to the next adventures and journeys of my life.
What is your favorite book of all time?
The New Testament of the Bible. Can’t express my faith enough. God is Good!
