Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, I’m Kristy from the UK.
I’ve just completed my ninth book. I have always written short stories and poetry. I went to university to study acting which I loved, but my real passion has always been writing. So, now I write the kind of stories I would have wanted to read as a teen. “Kiera’s Quest-Awakenings” is my first e-book. There are four in the series, ‘Sacrifices,’ ‘Perceptions,’ and ‘Choices.’ (Muse It Up Publishing.)
My YA contemporary romance book, “Just Sam,” Is available on Amazon in print & on Kindle, as is my YA/NA fairy-tale retelling, “Cinderfella.”
I’m currently working on the final part of my YA Paranormal Romance series. “Summer’s End,” book one, and “Summer’s Lost” (2) are again with ‘Muse It Up Publishing.’
I have two teenage sons who inspire me daily. I’m a big fan of fantasy and love a super hero movie.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Summer’s Time is the third and final book in my paranormal romance series. I dreamt of the lead male character, Alex. When I awoke I could still see him so clearly, I had to write him.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write everything by hand before I type it up, not sure why!
I also like complete silence, but to get inspired I listen to lots of music. muse, James Bay and Ed Sheeran are on loop at the minute!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
So many! J.K Rowling got me back into writing after a long time away from it.
I love Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick and Fallen by Lauren Kate, these inspired Summer’s End.
The Lux series and Selection series, The Mortal Instruments…
I also like John Green and Nicola Yoon.
I think every book inspires in some small way.
What are you working on now?
At the moment I’m revisiting my middle-grade fantasy series KIERA’S QUEST, rewriting and updating, since it was my first ever book series (so long ago) I want to get it to a better level of writing.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Goodreads a lot because you can chat to readers in groups etc. It’s a great site where everyone has one major love in common.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Never give up. Edit and re-edit! And don’t let rejection or a negative review stop you!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Keep going, someone out there will love your book as much as you do.
What are you reading now?
I’m just about to start Daisy Jones and the Six.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have about eight new story ideas in mind, but I’m thinking of writing another contemporary one as I’ve been writing my paranormal romance series for the last three years and need a change.
What is your favorite book of all time?
That’s a hard one.
I’ll cheat and say I always recommend “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night -time,” by Mark Haddon, because it’s so unique.
