Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello,
I’m L. M. White, but most of my colleagues just call me Mr.white.
Like many of you reading this I had inauspicious beginnings having grown up in a poor neighborhood with an absent father, impoverished, struggling in school, and unable to form close relationships and not for lack of trying.
If the power was on that day I would spend all my days either in bed watching television or staying up all night to play video games and if the electricity wasn’t paid that month I would just walk the streets until 1AM then go home and sleep the day away. I did this up until the legal age to work in my state when the reality of life hit me and my mother mandated that I get a job my senior year of high school and start contributing to the rent.
After securing my first job I was stricken with such a severe depression from getting such a pittance for pay in exchange for all the hours of drudgery I expended that I resolved to turn my life around overnight.
That led me to go to University and eventually get into writing. So far I have only written three books as of January, 2019.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The latest book I have written is The Keys: Using The Secrets To Self Discipline to Resist Temptation, Stop Making Excuses, and Unlock Your Potential.
What inspired the books was studying a good friend of mine named Richard. Richard is the most disciplined man I’ve ever come in contact in my entire life. He barely spends any money, works out all day, only eats the healthiest food, and what little money he does spend he uses it to grow a business. He and I are almost the same age but he’s far ahead of me career wise just because of how much self control he has and I wanted to learn how to do what he does.
I feel like this books catches the essence of self discipline.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write three hours a day upon waking every morning as my personal goal then I get cracking on everything else I need to do for the day.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Arnold Bennett is by far my favorite author with his books on how to life live the best way possible and he wrote his books nearly 100 years ago but they’re still relevant today.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a book that highlights strategies to cultivate a strong work ethic, how to turn yourself from a lazy man into a workhorse so to speak.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My amazon author central. http://bit.ly/Icecolddrinks
Do you have any advice for new authors?
The best way to write I’ve learned is like walking. Do it daily, and when you fall, get up. Eventually you’ll walk without issue.
Also just write, don’t edit as you write, write for a few hours in the morning and then edit a few hours in the evening. Otherwise you’ll stop your creativity from flowing as you try to correct punctuation and grammar.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you succeed daily, your life will be a success. Meaning that if you determine your long term goals, break them into daily goals, and focus on those daily goals consistently, each day your life will get better and at the end you’ll look back with satisfaction.
Also you’re not a failure if you fail, you’re a failure if you fail and quit going. Everyone fails, the difference is some learn from it and move on, others just turn around and go home.
What are you reading now?
All they will call you by Tim Hernandez
What’s next for you as a writer?
Once I get over the stumbling blocks that all new writers face, eventually my first best seller.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Dale Carnegie’s How To Win Friends and Influence People, this changed my life. Or How to Live on 24 Hours a Day by Arnold Bennett.
