Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello, my name is Marcia Edwards. I am originally from a small beautiful island in the Caribbean called Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. I am the oldest of my parents, and I also have 5 other siblings (two boys and 3 girls). I have been a Christian all my life, grew up in the church where my grandfather was a preacher.
I came to the US in 2010 to pursue higher education to help me and my family live a better life.
I have written two books so far. The first one is a memoir called ‘My Faith Saved Me’ and the second one which was published on June 15, ‘Love, Secrets, Betrayal, and Deaths.’
I love to sing, interact and meet new people and also share the wonderful things God has done in my life. Two fun facts about me, I love seafood and I have an accent.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is ‘Love, Secrets, Betrayal, and Deaths. I started off writing this book as a part two memoir of my life but then I transformed it into fiction. At the time of writing, I was dealing with a lot in the relationship I was in so I thought that sharing some of those experiences and some of the consequences of what can happen might help someone. Although I did not commit any of the cruel acts in my book, some of those things were done to me.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do not think that I do.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Shakespeare and Maya Angelou.
What are you working on now?
I have started a children’s book which I am getting more advised on to hurry and complete because it is based on a serious issue that this world is facing right now.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I believe that it is social media, but I also think that getting the right support team will also help me get my books out there to the world.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you are a new author, fear will be one of your biggest issues. Once you pass the first page of writing, I believe that it will become easier. Also, there will be people out there who do not believe in you, or who will try to discourage you, please do not listen to them. Trust me, I have been there, luckily, I did not listen. If writing is your dream, go for it, you might be the one to change a person’s life. That is my goal.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To never give up or never quit. To keep focus and holding on to what I love doing, which is writing.
What are you reading now?
Nursing books, lol. I have put reading on pause because I am more engaged with school.
What’s next for you as a writer?
For me, the next thing I would love is to see one of my books, preferably my second book on a big screen. That will be a dream come through for me.
What is your favorite book of all time?
This might sound crazy but honestly, the bible.
