Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I currently have three full length novels published, and a short story. I am writing the fourth novel, and have another short story ready to be published. I’ve writte quite a few books that will never be published, though hasn’t every author?! And I have MANY more to work on and publish!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Deeper into Darkness is my most recently published book and it’s the second in a series. It follows the point of view of a serial killer. It was super fun to write! The whole series started with the idea of writing in a dark point of view, and then I just ran with the idea!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to write with the sounds of white noise or rain. And I often like writing at night.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My favorite authors, especiallys ones that have influenced me, include: Gillian Flynn, Marisha Pessl, Chuck Palahniuk, Tana French, Ruth Ware, Megan Miranda, and Jamie McGuire.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on the third book in my Darkness Series, which will be the final book of the series!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m working on starting a newsletter, and I always post to my social media. I’m just now – finally! – getting into other promotional sites like pretty hot, etc!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Remember that your stories won’t be for everyone. BUT every story has a reader. So never stop writing, because there are readers out there who NEED your stories!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Get your butt in the chair and write! You won’t have stories to share unless you’re writing. The more you write the more you learn. Same goes for reading, and editing. Do it all as much as you can and never stop growing in your craft.
What are you reading now?
Currently I’m reading a few different books, including a re-read of The Handmaids Tale.
What’s next for you as a writer?
My goals are to continue growing and improving. I hope to publish several books a year for a long while!
What is your favorite book of all time?
Oh this is a hard one. I think it’s a tie between Catcher in the Rye and Night Film by Marisha Pessl. Both are phenomenal, and can teach an author a lot!
