Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I used to work as a ghostwriter and so counting that experience I’ve probably written around 24 books, front to back.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called “Hollywood Desire: An Alpha Billionaire Desire Book.” It’s my baby as it’s the first one I’ve written on my own under my own name (well, pen name). And yes, it’s inspired by true life. I actually went to LA. I did the things Skye did. And no, I didn’t have a billionaire come rescue me but that’s how I wish things would’ve ended. Instead, I had to learn my lessons the lard way. But, don’t feel too bad, I found true love in the end. This book is hot and steamy but it’s also a cautionary tale towards young girls, urging them not to drop everything and run away to Hollywood like I did. It’s a city built on sin if you get involved with the wrong people. I love when my books have a real message weaved within the romance and this one certainly did.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes, so I usually write late at night or early in the morning, like, right when I wake up and have espresso in hand. There are key times throughout the day when my creativity’s at its best and these are it. If I try to cram in a writing session at other times, or if I try to rush the process, then it just doesn’t flow. Also, I need to write every single day. Rain or shine. This is crucial.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Call me crazy but Jackie Collins is honestly my favorite. She’s so iconic and every one of her books really delves into character development and that inspires me so much. She also used real life to influence her writing and there just is nothing better especially when it comes to peeking behind the scenes into what really went into her glamorous world.
What are you working on now?
Right now I’m creating two novels. One is a mafia boss romance. I’m obsessed with anything boss-related. Like an alpha male who’s your boss? Yes, please. And then I’m also creating a new twin flame novel. Both of these promise to be really super steamy. I try to think of what I would like to read and what would have me turning the page and then I write that. I’m really excited for the future.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Gosh, this is the hardest part. I actually am teaming with a friend. She’s a writer too and we’re going to start to putting out books together. She’s really good at marketing so I depend on her a lot for that. Right now, it’s all about community…Facebook is a strong place to foster that kind of support which is so important when you’re working all the time in your own little writing world. I love hearing from people and getting to know who’s reading my books. It’s the best.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
A good plot is everything. It’s important in the beginning to arm yourself with knowledge–read books about plotting and really get that part established. Once you have the plot done, the book kind of writes itself. Also, just keep going. Never give up on your dreams! Think positively and make things happen.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Your thoughts create your reality. It’s true! If you’re in a bad mood all the time and you believe that nothing good will come or you’ll never make it, then you won’t. But if you continually turn those thoughts around and think that everything’s good and you deserve the best, then you will receive that.
What are you reading now?
Right now I’m reading Ensnared by J.S. Collins. I wanted to see what all the fuss is about. It’s important in this field to always do your research and she’s excelling so I want to watch her, to learn from her, and to grow.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Right now I have so much in the works. I can’t reveal all my plans but there will be a lot coming out and you can stay in touch with me and up-to-date via my website.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Geez, tough question. Of all time? I want to say, like, Walt Whitman or something but the truth is I spent this summer living in the most amazing country house. It was such a simple time, of like sitting in the back garden, surrounded by dragonflies and I read “The Memoirs of Cleopatra” by Margaret George. I was transported in time by her, she’s an unbelievable author…so what could be better than that?
