Poet in a Test Tube is a serious but comical, kind but rude, holy but diabolical, chaste but horny collection of poems that explores the different facets of existence including life, death, romance, sex, politics, chaos, philosophy, idiocy, science, delusions, happiness, depression and more. Xavier Crisostomo Luna’s first book will make you laugh and cry, it will make you fall in love and rise in lust but most of all, it will make you question the validity of the universe and beyond.
The book is divided into six parts. The first part Acids and Bases contains poems inspired by the stories of the people dearest to the poet’s heart. The second part Fusion and Fission will let let you feel the ardor of love and the pain of heartaches through its verses poetically crafted to ressurect and bury your loving heart. The third part Fractional Distillation focuses on the author’s identity and how he perceives the world. The fourth part Perfect Gases is collection of weird poems embodying the spirits of humor, violence, lust and nonsense but with some philosophical dandruffs spattered throughout each pieces. The fifth part Reverse Osmosis is a startling poetic critique of culture and society which will feed you some insights about humanity. And the last but not the least, Radioactive Decay is a closet especially made for poems tackling sadness, depression, suicide, death and meaninglessness of one’s existence.
This oxymoronic and irony-fortified book is a graceful priest written by a cursed pagan, a clean diplomat written by a dirty burglar, a loving father written by a bastard son. This book is a Buddha imprisoned in the body of Kurt Cobain, a Socrates confined in the body of Bukowski, a poetry trapped inside life’s strange test tube.
