Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hey there, my name is Samone AKA Author S.D. Johnson. I’ve self-pubbed a few books a few years ago but I am very excited because I just released The Falling Scion Series. A three-book, dystopian saga, and book 1 and two is out now. Book three is TBA.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The last book I released is Confessions of the Elect. It’s book two of The Falling Scion Series. It’s the second part of Yoli’s saga. She is an heiress of the Shore Delegation that’s been kidnapped and forced to stare some family secrets in the face.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Oh Goodness Yes….! I love to write late at night, in my bed. I HAVE to have my headphones on with a specific playlist on that I chose to write to. Otherwise, the words just don’t flow.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love a lot of the greats that I grew reading. Toni Morrison and Octavia E. Butler. Yet, I also love Morgan Paker, Robert Kirkman, and A.T. Nartey.
What are you working on now?
Right now I have three books that I’m working on. A dark romance, I have a spin-off book to the Falling Scion Series, and I’m writing another dystopian-type story that centers around a group of high school kids.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m a Twitter person for sure. I do have a website and I’ve got some pretty cool things in store for it.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Let the first draft get all the thoughts out, let the later drafts before the organizing. Write for you, don’t write to please other people.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t write for them, write for you.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading The Eden Project by A.T. Nartey again (love this book) and Nothing To See Here by Kevin Nelson.
What’s next for you as a writer?
More books and I would love to eventually do some screenwriting.
What is your favorite book of all time?
I don’t think I have one, that’s like asking me which one of my kids is my favorite. (Not a fair question! LOL)
