Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written five books, space and stuff, pie-eyed, space and stuff 2, the documented doings of rick toenail, space sheriff and princess power, space and stuff 3.
they are all interwoven and part of the same universe, I am 43 and a single dad living in Blackburn in the uk.
I write satirical sci-fi comedy, a bit of Rick and Morty mixed with Monty python with a dash of Douglas Adams.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
my latest book, is space and stuff 3, its inspired around the , simulation theory, that we are all living inside a computer simulation, its the culmination of all 5 books, bringing everything to an end.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I daydream my chapters, before writing them down, this can be a bit embarrassing, I will be shopping, driving or picking my kids up from school, I will just burst out laughing, like some crazy maniac.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Douglas Adams is a big influence on me, also Stephen hawking’s and Neil deGrasse.
What are you working on now?
the book I am writing now is called, the super nice monster squad, on the covers of the space and stuff, books, I make fun of the teen vampire genre, this book is biased around that.
the ugly nasty monsters, are angry that the good looking young monsters, are ruining their reputation, the book is about a war between them.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
in terms of sales, the best and cheapest, is fivver, but to get a new book out there, storyorigin or prolific works, for reviews booksprout.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
don’t get disheartened at nobody reading your books, it takes a lot of work, and time to promote a new book, give yourself 12 months after publishing, to promote it, before you even start thinking about sales.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
write for yourself, there’s 7 billion people on this planet, thousands if not millions will like the same things you like, if you like it, so will they, don’t worry about the people who don’t like it, you did not write it for them anyway.
What are you reading now?
dune.
What’s next for you as a writer?
more of the same, I tried writing a normal horror with no bad language, it did not feel right, the people who read my books want more of the same, so that’s what I will do, I get a real buzz from making people laugh, I know how important it is to laugh, I sometimes think about someone unwell, in hospital or just going through a rough time, reading my books and laughing, feeling better, that makes me very happy.
What is your favorite book of all time?
the hitchhiker’s guild to the galaxy, by Douglas Adams.
