Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a wife and mom of two adult children. After my kids left for college, I bought a Kindle and never looked back. Reading became my passion, once again, and then I decided to write a book of my own. I have written five books and one novella since 2014.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Hidden in a Small Town. After writing all romances, I tried my hand at a suspense. It was challenging to make it page-turning without giving away pertinent details. It has a bit of paranormal and romance sprinkled in to keep it even more interesting.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t use an outline and write by the seat of my pants. I will have a beginning, middle, and end and the rest comes as I write.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
When I first read Tarryn Fisher’s The Opportunist, it blew me away. I couldn’t quit thinking about it and always re-read when I’m in a rut. Tarryn’s ability to create fascinating, flawed characters inspires me to no end.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a book about a married woman in her late 30’s who has an emotional affair with a man 15 years her junior. He helps her to see the current state of her marriage and what she’s been missing out on in life.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
That’s still to be determined as I find it very hard to promote in the ever-growing sea of books. But Facebook and Instagram have been helpful.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t compare yourself to other authors. Your words are yours and that’s how you create your own voice. Be true to yourself.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t wallow in how hard it is to get noticed and write your next book. And then your next. Don’t stop writing.
What are you reading now?
The Hawks by SD Hendrickson.
What’s next for you as a writer?
To continue writing and attend my first book-signing. I’ve never done one and I think I will in 2019.
What is your favorite book of all time?
The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher.
