About the darkest of times, the darkest of thoughts by Megan Diedericks
gray, empty
but i let the words grow
and my heart, i let show
but with separation came
the anxiety, the pain, the journey
within confinement.
i wasn’t ever my own
and my many faces had me so alone,
i thought i might drown.
it started before i even knew what puberty meant:
at twelve, i wrote my first lines.
now, at twenty, i want you to read my warning signs.

I am 20 years old, and proudly part of the lgbtq+ community. I have wanted to be a writer since I wrote my first creative essay for school! I have won certificates for my writing (but those were all school-related, because I have only recently gained the confidence to pursue my dream.) I enjoy watching shows and reading about vampires (but not exclusively, maybe I’m having my Twilight-phase a little late!) And I’m pretty sure I won’t stop until I achieve my dream.
