Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Shiver Cove, Part 1: Tamyra is the first book I’ve published. However, I do have two adult horror novels that I wrote previously. For as much as I love those two novels they will probably never see the light of day. Wonderful learning tools though.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The latest book I’m working on is Shiver Cove, Book 7 (working title). It’s the last book in the Shiver Cove series. The inspiration was to satisfy my readers and wrap up the series.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. I write at all hours of the day or night. If inspiration strikes, I write. I sometimes head to the local library or a patio (mine or a coffee shop) to change up the scenery.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I would say RL Stine, Richard Laymon and Joss Whedon are my biggest influencers.
RL Stine has a series called Fear Street out when I was a teen. I remember anticipating as each book arrived at the bookstore. I liked being scared back then and I’m writing the books that teenage me would have loved to read.
Richard Laymon’s clear language and simple style are a huge influence on my writing.
Josh Wedon of course for Buffy. Buffy changed many things in the horror genre. The beautiful girl all of a sudden chasing the monsters instead of running away.
What are you working on now?
Currently I’m working on book 7 of Shiver Cove, a short story or two and my blog.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still trying to figure out the answer to this question. Marketing is something that I seem to be making up and stumbling through as I go along.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. Only You can write your book and get it out to the world.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Put a$$ in chair and write. That and don’t sweat the small stuff.
What are you reading now?
Currently reading Paranormalacy by Keirsten White. I alternate between YA and adult fiction.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m really having a hard time wrapping up the Shiver Cove series. I’m thinking maybe an off-shoot with new characters, but still in that world.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Way too many to pick just one.
Watchers was the first Dean Koontz book I read and it still stays with me. I love how he succeeded in making a dog a character!
