Witch Dust: A Paranormal Comedy Thriller (Witch Series Book 1) by Marilyn Messik
WHEN YOU GROW UP WATCHING YOUR FATHER
CUT YOUR MOTHER IN HALF MOST NIGHTS,
IT’S HARD TO DEFINE NORMAL.
Daughter of Adam Adamovitch, God’s gift to women and Theatre, and the lovely Ophelia, who can throw a hissy fit faster and farther than anyone; life for Sandra was always going to have challenges. When Adam’s wandering eye lights on yet another conquest, it proves a chorus girl too far, and Sandra’s caught in the reverberations of an acrimonious parting.
Coerced into restoring her depressed mother to the bosom of a family Sandra never knew existed, she’s sucked into a situation that even for her – and she’s had years of bizarre – is seriously unnerving. One thing’s for sure, the sooner she puts as much distance as possible between herself and the newfound nearest and dearest with their alarming tendencies and failing hotel business, the happier she’ll be.
She just has to sort a few small issues – a possessed chef, a hanged housemaid and a fly-on-the-wall documentary. And then there’s the wolf, the doppelgänger, the crazed shape-shifter, and an age-old grudge. Things slide swiftly from bad to farce and then turn a hell of a lot darker. One minute Sandra’s trying to save the family business, the next she’s battling to save their lives. You couldn’t make it up!

Author Bio:
Marilyn Messik Briefly.
Personal: Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Book Lover, Housework Hater.
Professional: Author of Paranormal Thrillers & Business Books (taking care not to mix the two!)
Default setting: Mild Hysteria.
I started out writing features and fiction for various national magazines, was a columnist for Mother & Baby, and when my children were small set up a home-based business, growing a team of ladies buying children’s party goods from me to sell on. I also trained as an ante-natal teacher. Smugly thought everything was going rather well, until the husband said if he opened one more cupboard and another pack of Mr Men plates landed on his head he was leaving!
Tough decisions, but I opted for the husband and opened a shop – probably the only one where impatient customers were advised to hang on and breathe in short pants! Following the creation of our popular Busy Bags (saving the sanity of parents travelling with children) I was able to open a second shop, adding books and educational toys to the mix.
When I sold the shops, I set up U.S. Welcome Booking & Planning, creating tailor-made, off-the-beaten-track trips, to the six New England states. With the growth of the service and to make information more available, I published U.S. Welcome Selected Hotels & Inns, an annual, full colour guide which showcased independent accommodation all over America, and ran until I sold out to a FTSE 100 company.
At that point I dipped a toe or two into the vintage world, dealing in antique illustrated children’s books and postcards. Problem was, once started, couldn’t stop, and spent a great deal of time ferreting in cobwebby attic corners, or scraping the bottoms of boxes in garage sales, The more wonderful public domain images gathered, the more apparent it became they had plenty to say – which was how the Vintage Ladies Collection gift books took flight.
I currently run a copywriting consultancy Create Communication. I’m still writing fiction, features and editorials, have blogged for The Telegraph Online, written four Paranormal Novels, and four Business Books.
