Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a new author, and so far have seven books released on Amazon. They comprise a historic romance, two contemporary romances, a paranormal fantasy romance, and a series of three that have been described by readers as erotic suspense and romantic suspense.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called The Golden Desires. It is a fantasy story of destiny bringing two people together across distance and time, through their dreams. It is the first book of a series so the focus of this book is on the characters meeting, and the readers getting to know them. The last part of the book introduces aspects of paranormal, and this will lead readers into the follow up book, which is due out before Christmas 2016.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write as I think, without any formal writing training. So I’ve had a couple of reviews of my books that have provided me with insight into aspects of writing style that I can improve upon. This kind of feedback is something that I listen to, research and learn from so that I can be a better writer.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have always loved Stephen King – he has a great way of getting inside my head, and I find that invigorating. But I can reach toward other genres also. Cynthia Harrod Eagles has a long term book series called The Morland Dynasty and I can read the 30+ books of that, over and over.
What are you working on now?
Right now I am working on the follow up book to The Golden Desires. The first of the series set the scene with characters and location, and only a taste of powers a select few have. This next story will be more centred around paranormal powers, and hidden enemies.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still learning about book promotion, but am pretty excited to have found this site this morning. I had not heard of it before, so I am eager to see what comes from it. It is difficult to assess which sites we find are legitimate and which are not – it is a sad thing but true for all of us using the Internet. It seems to be a matter of trial and error, but I am hopeful this site works!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write. And keep writing. And keep trying new things – trying anything is better than trying nothing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Live life.
What are you reading now?
I am reading a book by Kat Faitour. It is the first of hers that I have read, and I am excited to see where it leads.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have two books underway right now, but my greatest time is being spent learning about – and trying – different ways to promote my books. There are so many books being released every day in the world, that it is difficult to simply get one’s stories noticed. That is my focus right now – trying as many different things as I can to just get my book covers in front of eyes.
What is your favorite book of all time?
My favourite book of all time is The Wicked Wicked Ladies in the Haunted House by Mary Chase. I loved it as a child and I still have that copy, which I pull out and read now and then. Still today it invokes in me the same feelings that it did when I was younger.
