Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Dig Deeper and Run Faster are books one and two in The Hallie James Mystery series. Mean Street is the first in The Herville Mystery Shorts.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The town where my books take place is called Herville. In my mind, Herville is a lot like the town where I live in Central Pennsylvania. My imagination sees crimes and mysteries everywhere!
The last book I published was Mean Street: A Herville Mystery Short. It’s a short story about a woman who spends a weekend at home, without her husband, and someone starts burglarizing her neighborhood.
The idea came to me when a neighbor locked himself out of his home, and I watched him break in. He did it so quickly, I thought, “wouldn’t he be a good burglar!” Well, a half hour later, I was outlining Mean Street.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m learning a speech to text program. It’s working out well, but I need to remember to turn off the microphone before I talk to anyone in the room. I’ve had to edit out conversations with my dog, Buddy.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve read a variety of authors including: Barbara Michaels, Bertrice Small, Dean Koontz, Agatha Christie, Jackie Collins, Janet Evanovich, Charles Dickens, Kathy Reichs, and Stephen King.
What are you working on now?
I’m writing Down Colder, the third book of The Hallie James Mysteries. In Down Colder there is a strip club, kidnapping, and murder. Of course, all the great characters are there, and a few new ones.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linked In, and my website.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just go for it!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be myself and let the words flow!
What are you reading now?
House of Souls by Arthur Machen, and Take No More by Seb Kirby.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m going to continue The Hallie James Mysteries, and The Herville Mystery Shorts. But, I have the plot for something darker that I may try next year too.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Gone With The Wind!
