Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written 9 books in the young adult fantasy fiction genre including a seven-book series called The Pria Chronicles, the first book in a new series called Paranormal Painless, as well as, a new book written through the eyes of a cat called “Cats Rule! Henry’s Purr-spective”.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Paranormal Painless was inspired by a dream I had over ten years ago. I wrote the dream down in a dream journal, and recently decided that it was time to bring it to life.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write at the end of my school day, just as my students leave class, I open my laptop and spend an hour on a book, before heading home to greet my children at the door.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Dean Koontz and Steven King are my favourite writers. But my books are nothing like theirs. When I think about the books that drove me to also write for the young adult audience, I would have to say Hunger Games, Twilight and The Maze Runner, although The Pria Chronicles series took me ten years to perfect.
What are you working on now?
I am working on Paranormal Fearless, the second in the series which was started with Paranormal Painless.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I love instagram the best for promoting because it’s the most visual stimulating. But I do promote everywhere including twitter, facebook, my personal website, and just about everywhere else!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Begin building your author’s platform before your book is written. I wish I had known this important tactic years ago. I started my social media much too late, just as my series was ready to be put up. And when I say this, I mean, I put up the first five books of my Pria Chronicles series the same day. I should have started it sooner. I had no plan to self-publish. I didn’t realize how easy it was to do this all myself!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write Everyday.
What are you reading now?
Steven King’s It, as I am very excited about the movie!
What’s next for you as a writer?
Paranormal Fearless hopefully will be done by the end of the summer.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Dean Koontz’ Watchers.
