Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi guys. I’m Sirra Arris, the author of Juuro: The Night Key. I got done with school a while ago, and with all this free time, decided to engage in my favorite, childhood past time; reading about fantasy worlds, and creating them. TV time was limited for me while growing up, & as soon as i got home from school, i would make these papier mache humanoid figures, and use them to enact scenes in my head. These days i just smash the words into my half broken PCscreen. I hope you enjoy the read :))
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
M latest book is called Masks of Orisha, and its a follow up to The Night Key. Once heard a Nigerian tale about a tree that served a portal between the land of the living, and the dead. The idea of blurring the natural and the supernatural has always appealed to me, and i sometimes feel like i live in two worlds. I had to explore it. Also, i’ve loved mythologies from childhood, as well as what Rick Riordan did with the Greek and Egyptian ones. This is my own, and its African.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
None that i can think of.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Honestly i’d start with all of Robert Green’s books, and then Robert Kiyosaki. Probably got a thing for Rob’s. Outside that, i’ve pretty much been a manga reader. Sometimes i catch myself attempting a shadow clone jutsu from Kishimoto’s Naruto, or comparing my badly dressed habits to L from DeathNote
What are you working on now?
I’m working on the continuation to Juuro: The Night Key. This sequel is entitled Juuro: Masks Of Orisha, and follows the events after Juuro…. lol. cant spoil it for ya. Go read it
