Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a longtime author, speaker, & blogger, working on my 28th, 29th & 30th books! It’s a new Christian post-apocalyptic/dystopian sci-fi trilogy, and it’s turning out wonderfully!
I’ve owned my own companies since 2003 and contributed to multiple business industries including media production, corporate and wedding videography, graphic/web design, voiceovers, & authoring.
As a voice actor, I am the voice of United Healthcare, for example, & have voiced for a number of other Fortune 500 companies including Amazon, Uber, Wrangler, Cadillac, Microsoft, Enterprise, Fidelity, & many more.
I am the author of the bestselling “Dissonance” alien invasion saga (one of which has been adapted to screen and is currently being pitched to major streaming networks!), the post-apocalyptic saga “The End,” the sci-fi thrillers “Forecast” and “The Slide,” three children’s picture books, eight business reference books including “How to Successfully Self-Publish & Promote Your Self-Published Book” & “The Superhero Anomaly.” As a voice actor, I enjoyed a base of 3000+ subscribers & penned 300 blogs. I also was a voiceover business coach. My current book “The Superhero Anomaly,” subtitled, “A Comical look at Balancing Life & Business” is a testament to this.
In my life I’ve been an author, voiceover artist, wedding videographer, stage performer, musician, producer, rock/pop artist, executive assistant, service manager, paperboy, CSR, poet, tech support, worship leader, & more. The diversity of my life experiences gives me a unique approach to business, life, ministry, faith, & entertainment.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The End: Alpha. When I finished the Dissonance alien invasion saga in 2024, I knew there would be something else waiting for me after that: something powerful, compelling, colossal, and that would demand my full attention in 2025. It needed to be captivating…enthralling…high-stakes…and Christian.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am entirely unusual. Ha! I write anytime I can. I type really fast, and hammer away at my stories whenever I can: during the day, during th evening, in the wee hours after the kids have gone to bed, etc.. The fastest I got a first draft done was Dissonance Volume I: Reality in 2023, penned in only 21 days. Following right on its coattails is The End: Alpha in 22 days!
What authors, or books have influenced you?
My favorite author by far is J.R.R. Tolkien, but I also enjoy and have been influenced by Suzanne Collins, James S.A. Corey, Michael Crichton, Marie Lu, Madeleine L’Engle, John Grisham, Tom Clancy, Tim Lebbon, Christopher Golden, C.S. Lewis, Stephen King and Dave Barry.
I LOVE The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hunger Games trilogy, Aliens canon books and fandom books, the Jurassic Park books, the Left Behind series, The Long Walk by Stephen King, and many more.
What are you working on now?
“Omicron!” It’s book #2 in the THE END series, and I currently have 265 pages on it! It REALLY amps up the stakes from Alpha, and I’m very grateful for how it’s turning out.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly, my exclusive Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/authoraaronryan – it has people in there specifically for me and my books. I do sell directly through my website as well at https://authoraaronryan.com.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be yourself! Everyone else is already taken! That’s advice from Oscar Wilde. I love it. Don’t try to be the next King or Collins or Tolkien or Asimov….just be you. The world needs unique voices. Also, PLEASE steer clear of using AI for your books. You have a gift. It sits between your ears. USE IT.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Someone’s endorsement of you – or lack thereof – has very little to do with your trajectory. That has greatly aided me as I’ve put my blood, sweat and tears into what I’ve written and then tossed it out there to see who likes it.
What are you reading now?
Currently reading my entire Dissonance series on a final proof. I still catch things, but I have an all-in-one version that I am reading through, and I found a few little things that bug me. Grrrr. I do want it to be as close to perfection as possible.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Omicron, and then Omega in the THE END Series, for sure. And then, back to my other independent WIP, “The Slide”!
What is your favorite book of all time?
By far, The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien. It is the quintessential work of fantasy fiction, and it rocked my world at only 11 years old. That’s when I knew I wanted to be a writer.
