Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have written and published two books, “Japanese Tosa” for London Poetry Books and “Confessions Of A Pregnant Man” for the American Publishing Hous Alien Buddha Press
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It is “Confessions Of A Pregnant Man” and it’s both an Ode to the LGHBTQ+ community and their battles, and a love letter to my boyfriend, who supported me and my work and inspired countless stunning scenarios of happiness.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I focus on an image in my head an try to translate it into words, this transition is at times surprisingly immediate and some times requires full days to come out, exactly like a baby, the hiatus of different moth was the strongest comparison I could search for.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are too many authors I have loved over the year and certainly I am more future-oriented than nostalgia-driven. But I would mention the Italian poets Alda Merini, Eugenio Montale and Antonia Pozzi. But also Emily Dickinson, Coleridge, Ana Guadalupe and Dino Mahoney.
What are you working on now?
At the moment I have just published the audiobook of my first poetry collection “Japanese Tosa” on Bandcamp and I’m taking care of the promotion of “Confessions Of A Pregnant Man”.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I do believe there’s nothing like open mic nights: it truly allows you to meet people and shake hands, and hug and be inspired and seriously get to know people. This year has really killed that beautiful moment of serendipity, so I would say that promotional websites and reviews really help in this difficult scenarios instead.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I would say to be fearless: the rejections will always be more than the approvals, but this is not a synonym of your talent. It is a feedback centered on editorial lines and tastes. I would recommend to blindly go ahead and follow your inspiration, it cannot be wrong. If one door is shut, another one will open up, if you are stubborn enough to keep on trying
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I was advise to be restless and relentlessly craving. Moving forward is the best recommendation you might get and it used to come from my grandma, a survival to the war and an incredible human being.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading “Lioness lair” by Aka San, a collection I want to review for my blog ‘Quaquaversal’ on wordpress.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am taking care of an Italian essay I’m writing with my fellow brother – in spirit and also journalist Davide Garritano, and I am also translating his book in English.
What is your favorite book of all time?
It’s really hard to pick one but I have always adored Aldo Busi’s style. If I had to choose a mind-breaking book, I’d say “Foam Of The Day” by Boris Vian
