Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My Name is Amit Aharoni, I’m 40 years old, married to Shimrit, a schoolteacher.
We have two amazing kids – Maya and Ben and we all live in Israel.
I’ve written only one kids book so far but it sure gave me appetite for more!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The book’s name is ‘Earth my BFF’ and the idea came to me when Maya, my older daughter, came back home from a school one day when she was at the second grade and shared with me that they’ve learned in school that the world was created in 6 days (on the 7th God rested).
I said it was great that they’ve learned it but also asked if they learned the scientific explanation for the world’s creation, which unfortunately, Maya replied negatively….
Then and there I decided it is my objective to share with children the story of earth’s creation, what it went through and why it is imperative to protect it.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Hmmmm…. not that I can think of, the story came out of me very naturally and fluently.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I always knew I would write a book but have never thought it would be a children’s book.
I think that a lot of the bedtime stories I’ve read to my kids when they were little were fun but I felt there was no added value or educational angle.
If anything, the lack of the above inspired me to do my part and contribute to these aspects.
What are you working on now?
Being a good husbands and father 🙂
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Well… I don’t have a Facebook nor an Instagram account so I guess that would be through Amazon’s promotion tools.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I think that like the Nike slogan says, you should just do it.
Don’t postpone, follow your desire, and materialize it.
Even if it doesn’t end up as a best seller – the journey is beautiful.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
In general?
Keep the bright dime for a dark day.
What are you reading now?
Just finished reading ‘Darkest Hour’ by Anthony McCarten and started ‘The 7 habits of highly effective marriage’ by Stephan R. Cove which is based on the must read ‘The 7 habits of highly effective people’.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have a few ideas; one is for more oriented towards adults and the other is also for kids.
The ideas are still in the making but I’m sure I’ll be there soon.
What is your favorite book of all time?
My favorite book of all time is definitely ‘Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind’ by Yuval Noah Harari.
This book and its content should be mandatory material in junior high in my eyes.
