Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I write the Goose Pimple Junction Mysteries, currently with five books in the series. I’m a mother to two grown sons and former first grade teacher. I like photography, baking, needlepointing, reading, and Netflixing.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Liars & Lunatics in Goose Pimple Junction is based on a liar and lunatic I knew in real life. I learned the hard way about liars and narcissists, which Caledonia also experiences in the book.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
None that I can think of. I’m a pretty simple person.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I think everything I read influences me to some degree. Some of my favorite authors are Robert B. Parker, David Rosenfelt, David Sedaris, Michael Connelly, John Sandford, Rick Bragg, and Michael Lee West.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a thriller about a serial killer who disguises himself as an old, infirm man to lure his victims into his trap. The working title is Wax Man.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Approach as many blogs and websites as possible to reach as many readers as possible.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write a rough draft and leave it alone for a month or two. Editing and rewriting will be much easier with a set of fresh eyes.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
See above!
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading Bark of Night by David Rosenfelt.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Best seller rankings. 🙂 Hopefully, I’ll continue to write and publish more books.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Or From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankwiler. As far as an adult book, there’s no way to choose one favorite.
