Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I have two self-published books of poetry. I am working on a third, but once I reach about 40 pages, I’ll publish it. Sadly, I’m not inspired daily, so only add to the book as poems come to me.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Haunted Words. I noticed my second book was taking awhile and I had all these started stories that have been sitting there for years. Haunting me. I figure why not share the ghosts of stories that may never be.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wish I could say I did. I guess I don’t have a habit of writing, so there’s no unusual ones to have.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Edgar Allen Poe, but I think it was more after the fact that I attempt to write in the same sort of mood he conveys: Fascination at the darker edges of humanity.
What are you working on now?
It’s another group of poems. Keeping with the “aesthetic” of previous titles, I’m naming it Night Shadows. Because even in the darkness, there can be shadows of the past, present, and future.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m not great at promoting. As you can tell by the publish dates and when I finally decided to actively use these types of sites.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Have a day job. Find a day job that doesn’t suck all your energy, but do have a day job. At least part time. Especially if you’re introverted like me and don’t plan to do any in-your-face promotion. With a day job, you might be able to hire a person to do that for you.
It would be nice to make money, but it’s extremely competitive. Don’t write for a living. Write because you have a desire to.
Have a day job that lets your write at least one day a week.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Ever heard: Snowball Method.
I tried the snowball method and it does work, but any time I ever try to follow a method in attempts to write a novel, it falls apart.
What are you reading now?
In Too Deep by Brandy L Rivers. I love the idea of Seattle, so was looking for books set there. I found one of her books and have been obsessed with her Others series.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Trying to write at least a complete short story. Maybe some flash fiction.
What is your favorite book of all time?
As cliche as it sounds, Pride and Prejudice. Genteel Sass FTW
