Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve written seven total, however only one is for sale. I started in 2014 when I published four New Adult Romance novels. I was then signed with a publishing company that published two more books, before they were suddenly forced to close their doors. After that, all my books were unpublished. I took a break from writing but just released Discovering Truths, a Women’s Fiction novel in May!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Discovering Truths. I’ve always been an advocate for mental health and women’s issues, and I just had this idea of this character that’s so lost in her own mind, and goes so far off the deep end, that she does something she never imagined she’d do. I started the story three times before I finally perfect its flow.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not that I can think of. My husband does give me props because he says that it’s amazing I’m able to write and focus in the same room while he has the TV on blast. LOL.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve always been an avid reader, but my biggest influencer would definitely be KM Golland, author of The Temptation Series. After I read those books (and she has more coming,) I thought to myself, “I can do this!”
What are you working on now?
I have a lot of things in the works! My next book, Unsung Lyrics, is finished and sent to my editor. It’s a Contemporary Romance–a lighthearted, whirlwind romance. And then after that…eh, I don’t want to give too much away, but I’m about 25% finished with it, and it’s another Women’s Fiction novel.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve had a lot of success with Blogs and Reviewers from Facebook, however I am starting to venture out and look into other ways to promote. I want to get in front of as many readers as possible!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up! Being an author is difficult, but if you have a passion for it, you can do it! You won’t get rich instantly, but you don’t do it for the money, you do it because you love it! Don’t be afraid to ask for help, and use your resources!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be patient. Good things come to those who wait.
What are you reading now?
I’m getting ready to start When August Ends by Penelope Ward. LOVE her!
What’s next for you as a writer?
I wont’ be slowing down any time soon! I have several ideas for books and I won’t rest until I have them on paper. I hope to attend some signings in the future, and reach as many readers as possible!
What is your favorite book of all time?
That’s a hard one. Can anyone actually choose? There are so many great ones, but I have to pick The Scarlet Letter by Nathanial Hawthorne. I’d always been a reader, but that book REALLY got me hooked. I found myself in the library (yes, the library,) every few days, checking out another book!
