Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Not surprising, I’m one of those people that have been scribbling stories since I was a kid. But there was one other completed book before BLOOD ON HER NAME, but BOHN is the one that I put my whole heart and effort into writing it and getting it published.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My debut is BLOOD ON HER NAME and it’s essentially my love letter to female characters in the center of organized crime and a dash of inspiration from Anastasia. It wasn’t enough for the female character to be a love interest in the bloody world, I wanted a character that was the center of it.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love books with complicated main characters with equally complicated pasts, presents, and futures. Within the last couple years, the biggest author influence on me has been Barbed Wire Heart by Tess Sharpe. It’s just one of those books I wish I had when I was in high school that really has a spot in my heart and a book that has everything I love.
What are you working on now?
My brain won’t let me settle on one new project, so I’m focusing two. One is the companion novel to BLOOD ON HER NAME, that follows Anya’s old friend/almost-maybe-girlfriend as she also becomes a menace to society. The other is a monster/demon romance and my adventure into writing paranormal again.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
It suuuucks sometimes, especially when you’re trying to find your community or a home for your book. But keep going, make friends, and cry when needed.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write first, edit later, just put some vague brackets down and keep going. Also when you’re done writing for the day/session, leave notes on the pages for when you come back so you can jump right back in without wondering what’s next.
What are you reading now?
I’m spoiled by Kindle Unlimited, so the possibilities are endless. I need to make a dent in my physical tbr, so Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong is next.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I have a good list of book ideas to play around with that will hopefully make it out into the world one day soon.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Barbed Wire Heart by Tess Sharpe.
