Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I live in the midwestern United States with my husband, cat, and two dogs. I enjoy spending time sewing, photographing nature, playing video games, and (of course) dreaming up fictional worlds to write about. I've always been an avid reader, but in recent years, I've grown more and more excited about creating my own stories. Over the last few years, I've written hundreds of short stories and shared them on Reddit. (A few of which have received recognition on the Writing Prompts subreddit with their annual "Best of" writing competitions).
I've written one book (so far…). It's called Monstra Inter and it's about the zombie apocalypse.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Monstra Inter. I've always enjoyed zombie movies and books, but I also feel like there are a lot of things that should be done differently within the genre. And well, after a while, I figured I better put my money where my mouth is. If I feel like a story should go exactly how I want it to go, why wasn't I writing my own? So, that's what I did.
What are you working on now?
Some smaller, just-for-fun short stories. Although, I do have plans for a fantasy book in the future.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I've only been promoting for a short time, so I'm not sure yet. Although, BestBookMonkey.com and AwesomeGang.com seem promising so far.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
It doesn't matter if you have the best idea for a story and you're the most talented writer on the planet, you still won't please everyone. So you might as well write what you like and try to ignore the haters. There will be someone out there who enjoys what you write.
What are you reading now?
I'm currently reading a book that my sister is writing called Execration of Autumn. It's not officially out (YET), but she's looking forward to getting it out there soon!
What’s next for you as a writer?
For the moment, I'm trying to get the word out about Monstra Inter. I'm going to give myself a bit of a break and do some more laidback, short story writing for a bit. But I have an idea for a fantasy story that I'd like to turn into a novel as well someday, so hopefully I'll be able to get started on that before too long.
