Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a 30-year Air Force vet who loves to read and write. I started writing just before COVID began and was picked up by Black Rose Writing in 2023. I’ve written four books in the Tyler Zahn series.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
“Scorched: Burn Me Once…” was released in August 2024 and was inspired by a friend of a friend who worked as a security guard for hi-value art after retiring from law enforcement. I knew I could build a mystery around that job!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m very routine-driven and will relentlessly write at least 1k words a day while I’m in first-draft mode. It’s not polished writing, but I save that for my rewriting phase.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Agatha Christie, Ruth Ware, Lisa Jewell, Mary Kubica, Megan Miranda, CJ Box and Craig Johnson.
What are you working on now?
I’ve just finished my first draft of #5 in the Tyler Zahn series. Tyler investigates a helicopter crash near the Colorado Trail where his daughter is hiking.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t do it alone. I spent a year believing writing was a solo pursuit before joining a writing club and discovering the value of a good critique group.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never stop learning.

Abby Jimenez’s “Part of Your World” and Liane Moriarty’s “Here One Moment.”
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m plotting book #6 in the Tyler Zahn series, putting together a memoir of my military time, and writing a 1-act play which will go onstage in March 2025.
