Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, but I’ve published two books in the spicy paranormal romance genre with several more to come in the series. When I’m nor reading or writing, I’m fangirling over tv shows (currently Ted Lasso & Shadow and Bone) reading.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
FLAMES OF GOLD is the second book in the Diminishing Magic series. I was inspired to write the series by an idea I had for my daughter’s youth theatre class. The idea of supernatural creatures doing mundane human things like meetings that should have been emails struck me. Years later when I set about to self-publish a spicy werewolf shifter book, I remembered that idea. The gnomes in the play grew up to be a hot badass female main character who had to battle it out with a werewolf.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. Other than re-reading everything I wrote the day before.
“They” say not to do that, but I can’t stop myself.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The first book I fangirled over was A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle. I still love it to this day. Right now I’m obsessing over anything the ‘twisted sisters’ (Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti) write. I’d say their writing is informing what I write now.
What are you working on now?
Book three in the Diminishing Magic series. And a Christmas “Why Choose” story about Santa’s naughtiest reindeer shifter.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’ve been promoting on BookMojo & awesomegang. For paid ads, I stick with Facebook. Amazon ads don’t do much of anything for me, but when I run FB ads, I always get a few sales or page reads.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up or give in. I know it sounds cliche, but it’s sound advice because no matter where you are in your writing journey, there will be a day (or days) that you want to quit. Don’t be that person who quits.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Try not. Do or do not. There is no try.
Yoda is the wisest of all.
What are you reading now?
Mason by Leila James. I love it and can’t wait for the next book in the series.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Keep on keeping on. I want to finish this series, then I’m branching out into more books set in the same world. It’s my goal to be able to quit my day job one day, but I’m not quite there yet.
What is your favorite book of all time?
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle, as I mentioned above.
