A Senior Manager in IT Service field, I have loved reading and writing from a very young age. While music, poetry and writing have always been part of my life, my entry into the publishing world happened with my poetry via the book – The Changing Mask in 2021, which mostly delves into themes of love, relationships, nature and faith. In 2023, I have published a children’s faith-based chapter book – Cayden’s Adventures with Faith. My upcoming books include early chapter books that can help children to become happy, spiritually stronger individuals.
I hail from India and currently live in Kuwait with my family and enjoy meeting new people through travelling and event management.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Cayden’s Adventures with Faith is my latest book that has been published in November 2023. I teach Sunday School in my free time and have always felt committed to grooming children in faith and confidence. I strongly believe that kids accepting themselves and learning to build their inner faith is critical to their socio emotional and spiritual growth. This has led me to begin writing for children.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Nothing unusual. I keep aside writing to the late hours of the night, when the distraction is minimal. It is challenging at times as the day demands greater energy for office work. Hence I keep a balance of writing twice or thrice a week, but keep noting down points throughout the day, either on my phone or writing pad as and when the ideas pop!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
There are so many and it is difficult to list a few as it would injustice to some others. Agatha Christie, William Shakespeare, William Wordsworth, Robert Frost, Rumi, J.K Rowling, Dan Brown, Paulo Coelho are some of my favorite authors. While I love fiction, the books that have influenced me are the Bible, Atomic Habits, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, When Breath becomes Air and so on.

What are you working on now?
I am working on the sequel for Cayden’s Adventures and planning to make it a series.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social media and email marketing are the best ways to promote your book. Engaging with followers and conversing with people with equal likes helps a lot as well.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
My advice to aspiring authors would be to read widely and write consistently. Surround yourself with a supportive writing community and seek feedback often. You will gain a lot of information about various experiences in this journey, the challenges and how to overcome them. Writing is easy but the remaining part of the journey to get a book published is tough. But stay inspired with your dedication and passion and the outcome will be memorable.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
One step at a time, do it slowly but earnestly. You will get there in time.

I am originally from Bedford in England but I grew up in Middlesbrough. When I was four years old, in the mid-1950s, my parents took me to Jamaica to live which must have planted in me the seed to travel, as I have been travelling ever since. I have lived in ten different countries and worked in five-star hotels and restaurants around the world as a chef. I have also worked on cruise ships, Antarctic supply ships, a gold mine in Papua New Guinea and the Falkland Islands after the war with Argentina.
I have written eleven books in total, six of them are travel books aimed at retirees and baby boomers and I have also written my biography, You Will Never Amount To Anything.
I have now retired to Thailand where I live on the beautiful island of Koh Samui and travel extensively throughout South East Asia researching my travel books.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Being of a certain age I didn’t grow up with computers but I have certainly adapted to them since I started writing books. I do most of my writing thanks to the wonders of Wi-Fi sitting on a beach or around a swimming pool in Thailand or some other Southeast Asian country. Quite often when the sun is going down my inspiration is helped along with a cocktail or two.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
The first books I remember reading were the Just William series of books by Richmal Crompton. As I matured I read everything Charles Dickens wrote and all of The Hobbit series of books by J. R. R. Tolkien, I also loved Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. My daughter was born in 1974, and as she grew older I would read Watership Down by Richard Adams to her at bedtime. Looking back now it was probably a little scary for a little girl, but she loved the book as much as I did. Being at sea for much of my life, books were an important source of entertainment in the few leisure hours that you get working on a ship. I would read everything that I could get my hands on, from Agatha Christie to Ernest Hemingway, from Nevil Shute to Leslie Thomas. My favourite authors of today are James Lee Burke, Elmore Leonard, Dennis Lehane, Kate Atkinson, and Khaled Hosseini. I also like to read travel-related books especially anything by Michael Palin and Bill Bryson. I don’t think any author actually influenced me, I just loved losing myself in a good book.

What are you working on now?
My next book will be Lawyers Guns and Money which is the third book in the Thai Died series of books that introduces Lieutenant Chai Son Sinuan of the Royal Thailand Police an incorruptible police officer in a police force that is renowned for its unbridled corruption. Because of his stance against corruption many of Son’s fellow police officers resent that he is incorruptible including his commanding officer Colonel Saetang who only tolerates him because of his unprecedented record of catching criminals which the Colonel capitalises on and then takes the credit for. Son is based on the tropical island of Koh Samui where millions of Farang tourists flock every year to soak up the sun, party and visit the lady bars so crime and criminals are never far away.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have recently published a website as it seems a necessity in this day and age. Apart from that, being a retiree and of that certain age, I am not very knowledgeable about computers and social media, so I rely on word of mouth and hopefully, my publisher getting my name out there. I know I must be missing out on many selling opportunities but I find the whole social media thing rather boring and time-consuming. Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just keep doing what you’re doing; even if you don’t get published, you’re still improving your mind, enjoying what you’re doing and fulfilling an ambition. My brother John, who was a much better writer than I will ever be, tried most of his life to get his books published and never succeeded. I wrote my second book in 2017 (the first book I wrote was never meant for publication) and I was offered a publishing contract for it within a few months of releasing it on Amazon. What I discovered since becoming an author is that getting a book published is quite often down to luck, being in the right place at the right time and of course writing a great book.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Travel to different countries whenever you can. The greatest experiences are seeing other cultures and getting a real perspective on life and the lives that other people lead”. Which is the way I have always tried to live my life.
When I was in Cambodia recently researching my book, I spoke with a lady who was just forty-two years old the same age as my daughter. Her father was arrested, imprisoned and later killed by Pol Pot’s henchmen for the crime of being a teacher. When she was one year old, with her mother, older brother, and sister, they were forced to march 330 kilometres from their home in Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville to work on a communal farm. Her mother died along the way of sickness and malnutrition and she was separated from her brother and sister, and she would never see them again. She was taken in and raised in impoverished conditions by another family who had befriended her mother on the long march south. Being born in Cambodia during those murderous days she had not had the opportunities in her life that my children or grandchildren have had. She had no education, no real family, and had been working as a prostitute since she was fourteen years old to survive. It certainly put everything in perspective for me. You don’t see the real world by watching it on Tik Tok or YouTube.

What are you reading now?
I love reading great books but unfortunately living here in Thailand with the many things to see and do here and being an author as well as having to make content for my YouTube channel there are not enough hours in the day for me to sit down and read a good book. I thought that when I retired, I would have lots of time to read but it didn’t work out that way. I don’t mind because it keeps me active and I get to meet many interesting people and make new friends.

What’s next for you as a writer?
After I have published my latest book, I usually take a few months off to travel around Thailand or Southeast Asia to re-charge the batteries and find inspiration for my next book…so that’s the plan.

Hi, my name is Jean-Philippe Ricau.
At an early age, I made two decisions that changed my life forever.
One was to become a dietician and the other was to leave my home country France and move to Cyprus.

This question brings me back to the time when I started as a dietitian and I owed the books written by other dieticians. I wanted to read about their experience and their opinions on everything related to food, in a simple and practical way (no smoky theories or draconian diet that lead nowhere).
Because I think I have gained enough experience in nutrition, I thought it would be good to share my knowledge and help people live a healthier life.
In light of the proliferation of nutrition-related content by individuals without any relevant expertise or credentials in the field, I decided to offer authentic and credible information, and help people live a healthier life.

My name is Alfred, and I’m a former political correspondent living in Portsmouth, England. Despite being in and around journalism for some years (as a grunt reporter, I was never a talking head on TV) this is my first book, although I have two others currently in development.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book’s title is “England’s Martyr” – a rather dramatic and grandiose name for what is otherwise a sincere attempt to create a piece of historical fiction that’s both accurate and exciting. The book essentially deals with the sequence of events from the Battle of Ringmere in 1010 to Svienn Forkbeard’s invasion of England in 1013. This ultimately sets the scene for the emergence of a much unappreciated English hero, Edmund Ironside; a man who I feel doesn’t get enough recognition, not by far. I thought it was time somebody corrected that, so why not let it be me?

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I couldn’t really say. I do routinely practice something called the Wim Hof Method (named after the eccentric Dutchman, Wim Hof) which involves certain breathing exercises coupled with cold showers. This will sound insane to some, but I’ve been known to get suddenly inspired whilst doing the breathing (perhaps an abundance of oxygen to the brain is the culprit?) which can result in a bout of creative writing.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Dan Abnett is possibly the one author who has had the most influence on me. He generally writes a lot of science fiction (usually in the Warhammer 40K universe) but his style is something to admire, and I hope to imitate him in some fashion without making too much of a hash of it. I like the martial setting of his work, also, and the themes pertaining to honour, brotherhood, loyalty and so forth. It’s inspiring.

What are you working on now?
I’m writing the third and last book in the Ironside Trilogy, which will deal with the events of 1016 and Edmund’s final campaign to save England from Cnut. People who know history will know how it turns out, although hopefully my account will involve a few surprises.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I couldn’t really say. I’m not much of a businessman, and a lot of this stuff is very new to me. I’m also quite shy and, at the risk of sounding absurd, I get nervous about showing people my work. This is quite strange, considering some of the situations I’ve gotten into as a journalist, but there you go.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Try to be selective about the advice you take. Publishing is a difficult game to get into, and a lot of people will try to make you question yourself to the point you feel like giving up. If you have a story to tell, then tell it, and don’t worry half as much as some think you should. Do the best you can, do your research, do your writing, let that creativity flow, and ignore people who try to charge you tens of thousands of dollars just to “edit” your book to make it read like somebody else wrote it. Ultimately all you can give is 100%, and those demanding you do more are likely just trying to make you feel small for the sake of their egos.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Treat others as an end in themselves, and never just a means.” Immanuel Kant

What are you reading now?
Oddly enough, I’m actually reading the Lord of the Rings again. I read it when I was about 12, but I left the last page out as I didn’t want it to end. I thought it was about time I read it and finish it this time.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I need to finish the Ironside Trilogy and see what happens then. I’d like to write additional books revolving around the trilogy (the Ealdorman Ulfcytel really deserves his own book) so we’ll just have to see.

What is your favorite book of all time?
Dan Abnett’s “Blood Pact” is possibly my favourite in terms of style, pacing, writing capability etc. Aside from that, I’m oddly partial to the Dune universe by Frank Herbert. I’m also a bit of a John Steinbeck fan. George Orwell is another author I hold in high regard.

I’ve been writing all my life. My published life started around 2002 when i wrote a series of country-music-themed romance novels under the SoundMaster imprint. The first, Guitars & Cadillacs, was very favorably received and reviewed in country music magazines, blogs and sites, along with the 2nd, Long Way Home. Guitars & Cadillacs has just been re-released, and is currently a semi-finalist in the BookLife 2023 prize contest. So far I have another 10 in that series to release.
After writing romance for several years, I worked in mining exploration and then cannabis start-ups, helping companies go public and raise money. After seeing all the shenanigans that can go on in the finance world I decided to write Business Thrillers. I am just releasing the 4th in a series, The Cannabis Preacher-Sermons 1 through 4, chronicling the ups and downs of a fictional cannabis start-up company. It has garnered lots of very positive reviews so far.
I have a couple of stand-alone business Thrillers that should be ready for release in 2024 as well.
Finally, my latest project is another fork in the road, Pixie, The Magical Papillon Mystery Series. 2 of these should be ready as well in 2024. So I’m not really sure how many books I have actually written at this point 😉

Latest to be released (free on Kindle starting Nov 14) is The Cannabis Preacher-Sermon Four. Inspired from my work as executive assistant with 2 start-up cannabis companies in Canada, which included seeing a securities violations, and watching financial mismanagement, and even the criminal elements that circle this industry!

Likely!! I try to stick to my regime of writing a certain amount every morning.

The big names, like Stephen King, Danielle Steele, etc. But lately I have more enjoyed reading other Indy authors.

My Name is Vered Neta. I am a 13th-generation Israeli, but for the last 28 years, I’ve lived all over the world. Today, I live with my husband in Tenerife in the Canary Islands on an off-the-grid farm, creating a sustainable life through permaculture agriculture and a food forest we are building here on our farm. We live in the middle of a pine forest, and the nearest village to us is 3.5 miles up the mountain, so it’s basically me, my husband and our chickens, dogs and birds here. We also have a grown-up daughter who lives in London.

I’ve always been drawn to books. I was a “book nerd” even before that expression existed. However, I started writing only at the ripe age of 57 after having, as I call it, 3 Past Lives in this lifetime.
I’ve been an archaeologist, a top manager in high-tech companies and health institutions and, for nearly 30 years, a personal coach, trainer, and motivational speaker while owning and running the fastest-growing training centre for entrepreneurs in The Netherlands.

But after doing all that, I came to realise that I’m not growing anymore. I still had more things I wanted to learn and develop, which is how I came to challenge myself with a new career as a writer. Being heavily dyslexic, as a non-native English speaker, writing novels or scripts seemed like a Mission Impossible for me. Add to it years of non-supportive beliefs that I’m bad at writing and that I am not creative enough, and that sounded like a good challenge to tackle and grow through.

Since I started on this journey in 2017, I’ve written 4 movies, TV scripts, and 2 novels, and I am now developing a TV series and writing my 3rd novel.

The main reason I am writing is that I want to use this medium of stories, whether novels or movie scripts, to inspire people to live a full life. I believe we all deserve to live up to our potential. I believe that when humankind focuses on fulfilling their potential, we can create a better world. My main purpose in writing is to bring kindness and harmony into the world.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The book is called “Things We Do For Love”, and it is based on my own family experience of having to deal with Alzheimer’s. I wanted to write a book that would show that even though this disease is a devastating one, we can all use this period of a loved one who lives with it as a grace period. I believe that if we realise that what this disease does is strip off the person’s personality, but then we are left with the essence of a human being, which is so pure and so gentle it is impossible not to love that person.

I also wanted to debunk that famous sentence of Tolstoy: “All happy families are the same.” No, they are not. Each one is happy in its own special and unique way. Therefore, it is a story about the Bach sisters who have to take care of their elderly parents.

Daisy Bach, a therapist, has always been confident that she did not want to have children. Her childhood experiences with an overbearing and controlling mother, Verity, who tore the family apart, further cemented this decision. However, at the age of forty-five, Daisy finds herself reconsidering this choice. Unfortunately, her decision to try and conceive is complicated by her mother’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. With strained family relationships, Daisy faces the daunting task of caring for her elderly parents while also attempting to conceive. As she navigates this challenging time, Daisy is forced to confront her deep-seated resentment towards Verity. This journey leads her to re-evaluate her beliefs about motherhood, forgiveness, and the true meaning of a “happy” family. Will Daisy find a way to reconcile with her past and make peace with her present? Only time will tell.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
In the battle between “Plotters” and “Pantsers”, I am definitely on the side of the “Plotters”. I can’t think of starting to write without a structure or a goal for that specific writing period. The thought of staring at the blank page is so scary for me. I have to start by having a clear idea, structure and goal in front of me before even sitting to write the poetic part of the writing.

I start with a huge Whiteboard that I have on the wall in my office, and from there, I use the Beat sheet option in Final Draft Software, whether it would be for scripts or novels, I MUST have a beat sheet before I start writing.

As part of my “Plotter”, I create what is called “Bible”, where I describe the characters in general, but not to too many details as otherwise I will get lost. That way, I know where I am going, but I leave space for the creative part to appear once I start writing and the characters take off the page and lead me.

I’m a very auditory person, so when I finally sit to write, it’s a dangerous period at home as I keep on talking as I write. Therefore, there is always a sign outside my office on the door: “If you hear any loud talking from this room, it’s only me talking to myself, so there is no need to take it to heart or respond.”

What authors, or books have influenced you?
This is an unfair question. I have so many of them. I used to be a lonely child, and books were my haven. I used to say that people can disappoint and betray you, but books are always there for you, so I surrounded myself with books.
I would go through periods of reading the Classics like Dickens and Jane Austin and the Bronte Sisters, and then expand to Dostoyevsky and Tolstoy and Kafka and, on the other side of the world, authors like Gabriel García Márquez and Paulo Coelho.
Today, my favourite genres are historical fiction, fantasy and women’s literature, but I also read many non-fiction books about philosophy, personal development, spirituality and, of course, the craft of writing.

So, as you can see, I have an eclectic influence. What they all inspired me to write about was human nature and human relationships. They inspired me to write stories that would bring light into the world, even during hard and dark times, stories of hope, kindness and love.

What are you working on now?
I’m now ready to launch a historical novel set during the Prague Spring of 1968 and in the middle of writing a TV series about middle-aged women who are dragged into cleaning crime scenes.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
It’s a combination of several things – Social Media, a long preparation of a Marketing campaign and, in my opinion, the best is cultivating a mailing list, that is responsive and active

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I think my best advice would be – NEVER GIVE UP. This one goes together with keep learning, keep experimenting and most of all, make sure you learn and grow through the process of writing.

Writing is not a Sprint it’s a Marathon, so having the right mindset is the most powerful tool you can have

What are you reading now?
I always read several books at the same time. So I just finished Lessons in Chemistry, which I LOVED!

What’s next for you as a writer?

I was a Systems Architect/Programmer/Database Administrator in my former life before I retired several years ago. My wife made me agree to stay busy and out of her way if I wished to have a long and happy retirement. I spent 40+ years in the computer industry and had no desire to do that anymore. I have always known that everyone has a story to tell. The question for me was what story I could tell.

I have some hobbies such as golf, hiking, reading, genealogy, history, and just lying around and being a bum. So, I looked hard at my hobbies and what I could write about. Being a bum was out of the question because of my agreement with my wife, but I have my moments. I’m a terrible golfer, and my broken-down body limits how far I should hike. I love reading and am always happy to recommend a good book. I have spent hours researching my family’s history. This is where some of my love of history comes from. I decided to combine genealogy and history by selecting an ancestor and writing about their life.

I have been known to enhance a story to make it sound more interesting, so fictional history is what I decided to write about with a personal twist.

I have published a series that contains four books on Amazon titled “Civil Conversation.” It took me two and a half years to complete the series.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is the fourth and final one in the “Civil Conversation” series, subtitled the “Dinner Party.”

I have spent my adult life writing technical specifications. Let’s be real, this does not lend itself to creative writing. My writing is very to the point and lacks the finesse to draw a picture in someone’s mind. While researching my first book, I concluded that the ancestor I was working on may have read the book series “The Civil Conversation” by Stefano Guazzo and translated by George Pettie and Bartholomew Young. I ordered a 1925 reprint of the four books which were written in Tudor English. I thoroughly enjoyed this series, but Tudor English is not for the faint of heart. Words are spelled phonetically. “i and j” and “u and v” are interchangeable because there were only 24 letters in the alphabet in the 16th century. They didn’t have hard-set rules for grammar, and run-on sentences went for what seemed forever at times.

“The Civil Conversation” has a message still pertinent to today’s society. It is disappointing to say, but most people have lost the ability to be civil and kind to one another and listen to differing points of opinion. An idea started to form, so I decided to revive this series by adapting it to modern English. Therefore, this project would be my reintroduction to creative writing that I learned in college. Little did I know I would spend two and a half years working on it. All four books in the series have been published on Amazon, with the fourth book scheduled for release on November 13, 2023. The titles are:

• Civil Conversation: Book I – The rewards that can be reaped from conversation and teaching how to get to know good company from bad.
• Civil Conversation: Book II – The manner of conversation that is suitable for all people in public and the particular points to be observed.
• Civil Conversation: Book III – The manner of conversation to be observed all within the home.
• Civil Conversation: Book IV – The Dinner Party

The fourth book is my favorite of the series and is the icing on the cake. I truly felt like I was collaborating with Stefano on this one. Bartholomew Young’s translation was a bit harder to decipher, so I translated the entire original Italian into English.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I seem to attack my writing by brute force to get something down. In my adaptation of Civil Conversation, I wrote everything at least three times and then merged the three versions into one. I have continued this process with my first fictional history book.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Steven King, J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Dan Brown, and W. Bruce Cameron are some of my favorite authors.

What are you working on now?
I am working on my first historical fiction book about one of my ancestors with a preliminary title of “The Stranger.” My goal is to write about history from the perspective of the characters in the book.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Now, that is a loaded question for me because I have not figured this part out yet. Hopefully, this interview starts the ball rolling. I’ve given my books to friends and family, gifted a book and a bottle of wine as a prize at a local Bingo game, and announced it on Facebook.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Edit, edit, and edit again. Be sure your grammar is correct, which is not my strongest suit. The main thing I do when editing or reading the book is to make sure it flows. If something sounds chopping or funky, it’ll probably come across that way to your audience.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I have heard it said that everyone has at least one good book in them. I don’t know about that, but I believe everyone has a story to tell, so tell it.

What are you reading now?
I am reading a lot of books about the early 17th century.

What’s next for you as a writer?
As stated above, I am researching and working on my first fictional history book.

What is your favorite book of all time?
The Stand. I read this book in its entirety without ever putting it down. I was one tired individual.

Larry and Carol were married in 1978 and have combined their careers and life experiences to bring a unique blend to their writing. They are internationally experienced consultants and presenters in education and business.

Larry and Carol love to travel and have visited all seven continents and all fifty states, connecting with individuals worldwide and throughout the United States. They served as missionaries to Honduras, making numerous trips over six years. They also enjoy mentoring young adults, who they fondly identify as their “children.”

Throughout their careers, they have consistently collaborated as a team. They founded Prime Presentations, a seminar business that served teachers and administrators for over fifteen years. They co-authored and taught Success in School, a study skills curriculum for middle and high school students. Both have had articles published in professional journals and trade magazines.
Under Carol’s direction, twenty of her at-risk seventh graders wrote and published a 245-page mathematics textbook. Pioneer Math: Written by Kids for Kids was purchased by schools in Great Britain, Canada, Bermuda, and in over forty states in the United States.

When asked about their greatest honors, Larry shares that Carol was the recipient of Presidential Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics, which led to a meeting with President George H. W. Bush at the White House. And Carol proudly recounts Larry being named an All-American Softball player who pitched his team to third in the nation and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era.

They have combined Carol’s attention to detail and writing ability with Larry’s research, map drawing skills, and unique story ideas to bring you this first historical novel in the In Search series.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The concept for In Search of My Heart grew out of a small-group study of The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. We were discussing the fact that God chose women to discover the empty tomb of Christ and deliver the unbelievable message to the disciples. This was a most unusual choice by God, since women in that culture were not highly regarded, except by Jesus, of course. I recalled saying, almost under my breath, “I wonder what the women were thinking and feeling. I wish we had biblical events written from a woman’s perspective.” I later woke up in the middle of the night, tossed and turned for two hours, finally got up, and after a short Bible reading, I suddenly felt the inspiration for what has become In Search of My Heart sweep over me. At that moment, the idea for a story told by Miriam, a young Jewish girl in first-century Israel, was born.
We have both been inspired by other storytellers, such as our favorite authors above, but primarily by the Holy Spirit, who has truly guided our writing.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
We’ve known many authors who outline their story from start to finish and have a clear path for their writing. In our case, the inspiration for In Search of My Heart came to us and the only pre-planning we did was the extensive research. Since our In Search novel series takes place in first-century Israel, Larry spent over six months researching every aspect of that time period, including Jewish culture and customs, biblical writings, foods, customs, feast days, the Roman occupation, geography, climate, flowers, government and politics, and everything in between.
Once the research was complete, I began writing not knowing where Miriam’s story would take me. I had heard authors talk about their characters telling their story in some “out-of-body-from-the-author” manner. I thought these authors were a little strange until I experience that very thing with Miriam. As I would go to a friend’s cabin at the lake or isolate in my bedroom office to write for hours at a time, I allowed Miriam to share her story. She led me through in a way that is difficult to explain. I love spending time with her.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Writing and publishing a book is a marathon, not a 100-meter dash. For us, the research and writing was a joy, even exhilarating. We knew that the “business” of publishing and marketing would be work, but we had no idea how consuming that aspect of the project would be. If you want your story to reach readers, buckle up for the ride to get your story out there. Don’t be afraid to ask for help anywhere you can find it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Complete a Myers-Briggs profile on your main characters. This may surprise you, but my personal profile was different than my main character’s, even though I completed the profile for both of us! Once you know a character’s profile, you can be sure they remain consistent in their reactions and responses to situations throughout the story.

What are you reading now?
Elizabeth Musser’s Secrets of the Cross series. This is an older series, but one I just purchased, having read the rest of Musser’s books.

#5, Wish You Were Here features Jasper Craig in our first (almost) single-perspective adventure is heavily influenced and inspired by the music of classic and alternative rock bands like Pink Floyd, Guns ‘N Roses, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, & Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.

Thrust all at once into the strange, sun-drenched world of Elysium, Jasper struggles to master his grace and fit in amongst the Elysians, but plans are easier made than enacted, and the Fields are not without perils.

It is the closest thing we have ever written to High Fantasy.

What are you working on now?
We are currently working on our as-yet-unnamed 7th book in the Hunter and the Spider series.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Own what you do. When people ask what your job is, introduce yourself as an author and don’t be afraid to give people a business card, directing them to your website. You are your own best promoter. If you can afford it, consider buying a handful of author copies and giving them away, or donating them to a local library.

Online promotions can also be helpful and we’ve seen some traction from sites like Awesome Gang, Fussy Librarian, and Goodreads. If you are an author and haven’t claimed your Goodreads free profile, you should definitely do so.

Be willing to make friends with other writers and learn how to give and receive both positive and negative feedback.

Brevity is the source of wit.

The Billionaire Branson Brothers: Raylan is my latest book, Of course I am hopeless romantic and believe everyone can find the love of their lives if the timing is right. My current books are inspired by family vacations to Branson, MO and the surrounding areas. They are full of wonderful people and gorgeous surroundings, the perfect stage for true love!

Not so unusual but I still write my notes and story ideas in a composition book and then develop them further on my computer. I love flipping the pages of notes back and forth. My mind works forwards, backwards, and sideways sometimes; so a hot mess of a notebook works for me.

I have always loved reading all genres of books and the inspirations are endless. My first series I devoured was the Nancy Drew series in 3rd grade, then I venture into a horror phase (John Saul’s books), then the classic romance writers: Danielle Steele and Nora Roberts. I also loves thrillers. There are maybe 3 books (EVER) that I haven’t finished reading.

What are you working on now?
I just finished The Billionaire Branson Brothers: Luke and am about half way through The Billionaire Branson Brothers: Jesse. I am so happy with the way these books are coming together that I am mad at myself that there’s only 4 brothers (or is there?).

Right now, my website www.leximasters.com is basic. I am not focussing on it, more of my writing, but readers can join my newsletter via the website and I am really great at communicating with my fans through email. Amazon is probably the easiest way for readers to follow me.

Find a kind, understanding support system. There are a lot of baby steps on the path to becoming a published author. These steps are so big for us authors. Make sure you find a core group that will celebrate these little successes with you!

“Whether you believe you can or you can’t your right.”

It may sound crazy but absolute FAVORITE book is The Lenape Indians of New Jersey. It’s an old, old book about an English boy who is shipwrecked and taken in by the Native Americans. He learns the ways of life. I love it because it was completely outside of anything I knew or could imagine.

I have lived in lots of places and done lots of things, some good, some not so good – both the places and the things!
After a lifetime of writing professional reports, academic documents, discussion papers, and sermons – with a few songs and poems thrown into the mix – I seized the opportunities provided by retirement and lockdown to turn my hand to fiction, prompted by an online course in creative writing, and I haven’t stopped since! My first three books have been published, numbers four and five are being prepared for publication, and I’m about halfway through writing number six.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is ‘Sampson and Son’ – the third in The Ancestor Series. The whole series grew out of my research into my family tree and the discovery of a lot of curious characters and some unanswered questions. I am not, and have never been, an historian, so this is a new departure for me, with lots of challenging research before I write, in order to create the context for my characters as accurately as I can. But they are fiction, so I do allow myself leeway for imagination to come into play too!

I often have to move Luna-Cat from the bench at my desk before I can settle down to write!

I have always been a reader, so there are many authors and books I could name here, but among the most influential I would include CS Lewis and Ursula le Guin.

I’m currently working on ‘The Maubry Inheritance’, which is set in 13th-century Scotland. It tells the story of my 21st great-grand-uncle, who was Sheriff of Fife. Called upon to mediate between rival parties in a dispute over land and property, he struggles to remain impartial after he meets the most powerful claimant’s step-daughter and potential heiress.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I have my own website and facebook page, and am currently running a promotion for the Kindle edition of ‘Sampson and Son’. My publisher (Steggr) is using various websites, and I believe word of mouth is good too.

Write something you would like to read, and which you can relate to… and don’t give up on those days when the blank screen seems to laugh at you.
