Peggi Davis

Peggi DavisTell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hello! I am Peggi Davis, 77 years old, a widow, and living my best life this very minute. I was raised in New York City by an eccentric British father and sometime-model mother, in an untethered, unusual home filled with fashion, formality, and a few friendly ghosts. After graduating from Texas A&M University, I entered the wacky world of retail advertising as a fashion art director and creative director. This painfully shy and quiet young girl was introduced to a world she never knew existed. There, I developed a cadre of creative colleagues with whom I shared decades of outrageous experiences and escapades. My career took me all over the country, from New York to San Francisco as I worked for Macy’s, Saks Department Stores, and AGA Design, New York. I settled in Birmingham, Alabama, which I love. Cool restaurants, warm biscuits, and gentle people. There is something to be said for Southern hospitality. Plus it is beautiful and smells of magnolias, an assault on the senses. My little piece of paradise. I have published two books to date, one memoir, "Funny Face," and one womens' fiction, "Rewind Ranch."

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
After retirement in 2014, I opened The Schoolhouse Art Studio and began teaching collage, jewelry making, and painting. However, the pandemic forced its closing, and I turned my focus from art to writing during my masked hibernation at home.

For years, my colleagues said I should write a book about my childhood and adult experiences. During the pandemic, I began posting stories about my family on Facebook. Before long I began receiving messages from people all over the country asking for more. I later enrolled in a writing class and was encouraged to create a blog. My first book “Funny Face: a Memoir” consists of hilarious and horrifying stories from that blog. It was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life as those stories flowed from my fingertips and seemed to literally write themselves.
I had found my voice. “Funny Face” was recognized as Reader’s Favorite International Bronze Award winner and the Non-Fiction Book Award Silver winner.

The chapter that resonated most with the readers was an essay on aging, something we face with little information and no guidance. No one prepares you for feeling one way on the inside and looking another way on the outside. I began wondering What if we could change that narrative?
How would the ability to look and feel young again present itself and how? I challenged myself to write about the possibilities, and “Rewind Ranch” was born.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I am the most unlikely author. Sometimes I look at my printed books in total disbelief. I tend to write late at night after the world is asleep. I also tend to design my book cover before I begin the text. I guess that is the designer in me! My writing has given me a sense of accomplishment and pride. I know I won’t be accepting the Pulitzer Prize anytime soon, but to see my books on a shelf next to Joan Didion makes me feel like I have left a mark on our crazy world. It’s like saying, I am here.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Growing up I was a voracious reader. I still am. It is impossible to state my favorite authors as I have so very many. I will say I am inspired by Anne Lamott, Augusten Burroughs, Jeanette Walls, and Joan Didion. What they have in common is their transparency, honesty, and courage.

What are you working on now?
Many of my readers want to know more about the characters in "Rewind Ranch," and I think that will be my focus. I am considering a book about the cold, clever, and calculating Dr. Wendy Wu who provides the most shocking twist at the story's end.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I learned so much by promoting my memoir myself. I wasted so much time and money on the wrong things. I have found the staff at Chick Lit Cafe to be the most helpful and honest group to date. They have guided me on this second book and it has been so much better.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I have often heard the saying, “It’s a journey, not a destination” And that is what I would say to new authors. Most of you are not going to get rich or be interviewed on NPR or CBS Sunday Morning. Chances are you will never be mentioned in the New York Times book section or hounded by Hollywood producers. Write because you have something to say. Write because you absolutely love it. Write because it feeds your soul like nothing else. Just write.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I had a boss in advertising who told me once, "Write the way you talk."
That is exactly how I found my voice.

What are you reading now?
I just finished "The Great Believers" by Rebecca Makkai. I devoured it and found it to be just brilliant.

What’s next for you as a writer?
As I conjure my next writing project, I am going to return to my painting and collage work. They are my roots..

What is your favorite book of all time?
There are so many. However, I always recommend "The Glass Castle" by Jeanette Walls to people looking for their next read.

Mindy Killgrove

Mindy KillgroveTell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an author who writes in varying genres. I have penned romance novels that range from historical fiction to contemporary, but I also enjoy writing cozy mysteries, children's books, and educational resources. As a ghostwriter, I created more than thirty-eight novels and under my own name I have written more than a dozen books.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is entitled Marshmallow Milkshakes and Missing Persons. It is the first book in the Buenaventura Beach Mystery Series. My favorite author is Agatha Christie, so I wanted to try my hand at creating a mystery Christie might enjoy.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don't do this so much anymore, but I used to stand while I was writing. I have one of those desks that moves up and down, so the rule was that I wrote while I stood and edited while I sat.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I am constantly inspired by the work of Agatha Christie, but I also have gleaned a great deal from the dramas written by Shakespeare. I want to play with words the way he did and I try to incorporate as much dialogue as possible. My love of historical romances stems from my reading of Gilbert Morris' works.

What are you working on now?
Now that I've finished the first book in the Buenaventura Beach Mystery Series, I'm diving into Book Two: Frost Sips and Foul Play on the Fairway. It was inspired by a work by Agatha Christie, but also, my dad is an avid golfer and I wanted to create something he might want to read.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I haven't found a great method yet. I've tried a few things, but have yet to find a combination that I think works well for me and my books.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
I'd like to tell new authors and those who are thinking of writing books that they probably already have a story inside them somewhere. The trick is to tap into it and start writing. I know that advice seems lackluster and mostly like encouraging people to employ common sense, but I wholeheartedly believe that authors should start by writing what they know, and so, when someone feels they've got a unique story to tell, they ought to go for it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Be your best self… I was given this advice while participating in the Ohio's Junior Miss Scholarship Program. Instead of striving for perfection or pursuing greatness, be the best version of yourself that's possible.

What are you reading now?
I just finished reading Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano and I started re-reading Jane Austen's Mansfield Park.

What’s next for you as a writer?
In November, I will be releasing a Christmas-themed book.

What is your favorite book of all time?
My favorite book is indubitably Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. It is Austen's wit that draws me back in continually and I find something new each time I embark upon a re-read.

Laura Armijo

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
As long as I could remember, I’ve always been reading. One day, many, many years ago, I thought: that doesn’t seem hard. I could do that. HA. it is a lot of work but I found that I love it. I’ve been bring up two boys by myself, so I haven’t had time to write like I’ve wanted to. Now that they are older and more self-sufficient (again – HA), I think will have more time to devote to something I’ve become passion it about.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Past Can’t Be Escaped. I’ve started and stopped this book for years, I can’t really remember what inspired it, to be honest. It just sort of came to me.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I have to hand write my story. Sitting at the computer and staring at a blank screen is scary. I literary freeze. Give me a pen and paper and the words flow out of me.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I grew up on Danielle Steele and Nora Roberts. Since then I’ve loved reading Emily Henry. Books take me to another place. If the book is good – I can see the scene and not see the words, if that makes sense.

What are you working on now?
Something completely different. Its about learning about your family history through an unexpected resource.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
When I find it ~ I’ll you know.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Learn to format your booked before you start typing. I learned the hard way.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You won’t know unless you try.

What are you reading now?
I’m between books. Have a suggestion?

What’s next for you as a writer?
Work my full time job and write at night with a glass of wine.

What is your favorite book of all time?
All the Harry Potter Books.

Anjelica Søndergaard

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Turkish Delight are my debut novel. But I have been writing for years through my work with communications, social media and digital marketing.
Just last week, one of my horror novels got selected for a Halloween anthology, for a Danish Publisher. So yay me! 😉

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The inspiration for Turkish Delight came from countless holidays in Turkey with family and friends for over 20 years. Throughout the journeys, I collected an abundance of amusing and outrageous tales and stories. In 2021 I wrote everything down and started putting bits and pieces together, to create Turkish Delight.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m seeing myself as a sprint-writer. I’m not writing everyday. In fact, most days I don’t. But when I write, I’m writing fast and maybe 12-14 hours a day. I get obsessed. Can’t sleep, can’t think. This is how Turkish Delight was writen in just 1 month.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Many, many different ones. I spent almost all my time at the local library as a child and young teenager. (And most likely has an unofficial local record in the number of books borrowed and read per week!).
But one of the most influencial ones, regarding the amount of humor I put in my book, is a Danish Writer, Dennis Jürgensen. He wrote a book called “Kærlighed ved første hik” (Love at first hickup). That book made me laugh so hard, the tears was running down my face! And that was amazing! Written words, that made me laugh my head of. I wanted to do that as well.

What are you working on now?
Right now I’m writing on Turkish Delight 2, and I also have a lot of other ideas for childrens books, horror stories and some sci-fi/fantasy, but that’s later down the road.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m fairly new to the international marked, so I’m still in the trial & error fase. So far, I’m trying to get reviews from bloggers, and I’m running Facebook ads, which works okay. + I prioritize my own webpage and Instagram as well.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be prepared to work your behind of and don’t expect to much from your first book. Almost no one makes is to the bestseller top, without heavy promotion and a big bag of luck.
Keep writing, don’t lose hope, only take advise from people you trust and most importantly: Remember that reviews are not reflecting your skills, but only says something about that peticuliar reader’s taste. 😉

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Listen to the ones, who went before you. They have experience and know-how. BUT, also find your own way. Just because something didn’t work for them, doesn’t mean it won’t work for you.

What are you reading now?
A fantasy book: “Path of the taker” by Simon Grund Sørensen (Danish author, but he writes in English and publishes on Amazon – Go check him out, he’s good!)

What’s next for you as a writer?
World domination! 😉 Or something of like that. My big plan is to make Turkish Delight, and the following two books in the same series, the go-to summer/beach read for women 40+, the next couple of years.
I would also really love to see it made into a movie.

What is your favorite book of all time?
That’s difficult. I’m not really a “I have ONE favorite”-anything. But I enjoy everything that’s a little weird, very funny or completely mindblowing.

Darcy Flynn

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Joy Dent and I write clean and wholesome romance novels as Darcy Flynn. I’m originally from New Orleans, LA, and spent my childhood, riding streetcars, celebrating Mardi Gras and cheerleading for the University of New Orleans. I studied music and theatre in college and after I got married, my husband and I moved to Nashville, TN. I’m a former fashion model and Mrs. Tennessee and I now live on a horse farm just down the road in Franklin. And even though I’ve spent years surrounded by a menagerie of living creatures, I’m partial to my barn cats and my beautiful English Setters. I’ve written books and two short stories.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Flight Time! My young adult, time travel adventure. My heroine, sixteen-year-old Rylee Dean has grown up hearing stories about her grandfather Jaxon C. Scott. She has inherited her grandfather’s love of flying, but on her first solo flight, a strange incident throws Rylee forty years into the past, bringing her face to face with her long-lost grandfather. Only he is a young man working as a test pilot for the US Air Force. Rylee knows she is the one who can save her grandfather’s life. But changing the past means the future will disappear, making Rylee’s existence vanish as well.
Flight Time is the story of my heart, as my own uncle disappeared in flight leaving behind his pregnant wife at the time. He was twenty-two-years-old and he, nor his plane, were ever found. As a child I heard many wonderful stories about him from my mother and grandmother and like Rylee, I so longed to know him.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I can’t say that any of my habits are unusual. When I’m struck on a scene and need inspiration, I take a long walk on my farm and listen to my writer’s playlist. It varies from book to book. The music acts as the soundtrack for my story and can be helpful in bringing fresh words to the scene I’m thinking on. When that happens I stop, open up ‘Notes’ on my phone and start typing.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’d have to say, Georgette Heyer. She is one of my favorite authors and the greatest influence on me as a writer. Her novel, Sylvester, was the first romance I’d ever read. I was fifteen and from that moment on I was hooked. Since then, I’ve read every one of her books and have a collection of her hardbacks in my office. Her stories are so much run, romps really, and I adore her characters so much. Even though I don’t write historical fiction, her writing has influenced the fun that’s a hallmark of my stories. I tell people there’s an F word associated with my books and it’s FUN!

What are you working on now?
Right now I’m working on another romanic suspense. I’m at 40K words on the first draft. Without giving too much away, my heroine is trying to solve a murder that took place twenty years ago. Most of my books are romantic comedies and this story will be my second romantic suspense. I’m really excited about this one. I find this genre a bit more difficult to write, but the reward and sense of accomplishment when I finish is magic. 😊

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Over the years I’ve tried many avenues to promote my books. At this time in my life, I’ve found focusing on one or two is best for me and my lifestyle. This gives me more time to write, which is what I love. I use my website now as more of a landing page where readers can visit and learn more about me and my books.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
When I sit at my desk I tell myself, I get to write today. I get to go into a world of my own making and create something fun—something I love—something that will entertain others. There’s a quote I found years ago and it’s pinned to the corkboard near my desk. I have no idea who said it as there was no name attached to it. But for me it says it all. “Today I get to immerse myself in the beautiful struggles of imagination and creation.” When I enter that struggle and work a sentence or a paragraph to death, trying to express a particular emotion, the creative magic that occurs is beautiful.
You can be a gifted story teller, but when it comes down to it, self-discipline is core to your success. And that takes sitting in the chair and getting it done. Some days, the story just isn’t there, and staring at a blank page can be frustrating. Writers have a saying . . . you can’t fix a blank page. So choosing not to write is not an option. Over the years, I’ve found that I have to treat this like a job. I get up, have breakfast, get dressed, and go to work. If you do this, trust me it will be worth it, and the magic moments in your writing journey will happen.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“You can’t fix a blank page.”
Always write something. That ‘something’ will lead to the next sentence, to the next paragraph. That leads to an idea and something to fix, something to build upon. Do not let fear stop you in hour tracks. Write.

What are you reading now?
Deception by C.J. Redwine.

What’s next for you as a writer?
I have two novels that I’d like to turn into a series. One is Double Trouble and the other is Stowaway. Both novels have great secondary characters and I’ve had requests to tell her stories.

What is your favorite book of all time?
Gosh, there are so many, but since my current WIP is a romantic suspense, I’d have to chose, Loves Music Loves to Dance by Mary Higgins Clark. She’s one of my all time favorite romantic suspense authors. I’ve read all of her books and this is the one that has stood the test of time. I read it years ago and I can still tell you all about it. I think that’s rare.

Lianne James

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Lianne James and I write clean, sweet women’s fiction. I have written one book so far, but my series (A Love on Turtle Island) will have seven books in all!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Sandcastles and Second Chances. I wrote it to feature a second-chance love story with older characters because I believe love is possible at any age! I found love later in life, and want to remind women of all ages that the “You jump, I jump!” love is out there waiting for them!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write in bursts, so I won’t come up for air for two weeks and then I won’t crack my laptop open for three months. So, I sort of have to go with whatever mood I’m in, but because of this quirk, I can crank out full-length books in well under 14 days!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I love A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng, and anything by Matt Haig. However, when it comes to the women’s fiction I write, I have been inspired by several best-selling indie authors on sites like Amazon. To name a few, Rachael Bloome, Amelia Addler, and Jennifer Griffith!

What are you working on now?
I’m halfway through my second book in the A Love on Turtle Island series. It’s called, Saltwater and Serendipity, and is about a grumpy millionaire who spends one magical day with a stranger before they get separated, and then enlists the entire island to help him track her down so he can propose to her.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am big on organic marketing, so word of mouth, gifting books to friends who might enjoy it and start a dialogue about it. I’m slowly trying to build a social media following, but it doesn’t come naturally to me!

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t waste time worrying if you’ll be any good! I wasted too many years with that type of useless anxiety. Just do it, as the slogan says! It’s popular for a reason! If your work is awful, you can always edit it. Plus, with each new book, you’ll get better and better. The key is action, not sitting around wishing, hoping, and daydreaming. Those things do nothing but rob you of the life you want!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Life is not a dress rehearsal. We only get one chance, so why not take a few risks?

What are you reading now?
I usually have 3-5 books going at once! I saw a cute shirt with an octopus who had a book on each tentacle. That about sums me up! But I’ve recently stumbled on Carley Fortune and her writing is exquisite!

What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m aiming to have at least 3 of my A Love on Turtle Island series books up by the end of summer!

What is your favorite book of all time?
How to Stop Time by Matt Haig is such a beautiful, enchanting read!

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
To date, I have published 7 books. Although Amazon blacklisted 2 of the 4-part series ‘Feet Pose Maven,’ I’m still going strong. I began writing and posting on my blog, https://baroquemedusa.com/, during the Lockdown in 2020, initially as a sci-fi writer. Back then, I was concerned about how writing erotica would be perceived. Clearly, that has changed!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Immaculately Obscene Nixeen: An Erotic Odyssey Restoring Primal Passions in a Post-Pandemic World. After the lockdown of 2020/2021 ended, it was astounding to see the disconnection humans experienced after enduring mandated isolation. Hedonistic shepherd Nixeen embarks on a mission to break through the digital world of post-Pandemic 2020 to restore connection and sex to those who have been programmed to forget their primal needs.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
“Before writing the very first sentence, I create a Spotify playlist to set the tone. Music shapes the story I transfer from my head to paper, enhancing my expression as it becomes part of the narrative. For instance, check out the Spotify playlist I created before starting ‘Only Fans Fund$’ here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0up6f6msTfz7kXEnamk7aZ?si=28a3ac6caca44d51

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Lana Del Rey, especially her music and poetry book ‘Violet Bent Backwards over the Grass,’ OnlyFans creators, and the nostalgic days of classic porn magazines like Vivid Entertainment and Club Jenna.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently completing my next book, a non-fiction poetry erotica story based on the intense, primal, and animalistic sexual connection my lover and I have shared for the past twenty years.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I hire a Fiverr freelancer for this and let her work her magic. You can reach Amanda K (@akerr8787) at this link. Tell her Baroque Medusa sent you: https://www.fiverr.com/akerr8787?source=order_page_user_stamp_link

Just write! If you’re genre is erotica like mine, there is no rules -per say. The more outrageous, the better.

Robert Hall

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My Author’s name is Robert Hall, I go by Bob. I’m retired and used to be a manager in telecommunications, at Sprint and sales at Verizon. I have written and published 14 manuscripts. I became adept at figuring out technical issues to service our customers. I used Draft2Digital to publish my manuscripts and Pay hip to design my website. I am published in Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo (including Kobo Plus), Smashwords Store, Tolino, OverDrive, Bibliotheca, Scribd, Baker & Taylor, Hoopla, Vivlio, BorrowBox & Odilo. What started as a hobby has turned into a lovely passion.
The reason for my manuscripts is I am enjoying a peaceful mind and want to share “Why?” I turned 71 in November 2023. I look around and see the absolute insanity of this world; the wars, corruption, pollution, poverty, homelessness, greed, hate, lies, drug pandemic, broken families and relationships, constant bombardment of buy this and that, news networks that spread fear and lies. So on and so forth. What all this means to me is absolutely nothing. Truth to me is a peaceful mind, I know it’s true because I’m experiencing it. I am very much alone but never lonely.
I have a strong and growing faith in God. Not the God as depicted in the Bible who is jealous, vindictive, angry, and demanding of worship. Not the God who created hell and required the sacrifice of His Son to save us from it. Not the God who “calls” young children Home. Not the God who brings extreme trials into our lives as a form of judgment.
Our God is the Ultimate, Eternal Expression of Love. My manuscripts are simply to share my perception of Truth. I have authored over a decade of writings and if they instill in you a growing peace, then you’ll experience the “fruits” of Truth also.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Phasing Dimensional Highway.
Bob Hall hates his name, say it out loud, and you’ll understand why, sounds really stupid. He’s changing his name to Wentworth Wellington Hall; this will instill awe and respect in others. So, from now on he’s referring to himself as Wentworth. He’ll buy a monocle next week on Tuesday at exactly 3:17pm because of the critical time importance he’ll be wearing his double-breasted blue color blazer with yellow long johns and purple penny loafers. He knows this will cause the ladies to faint and strong men to whimper like beaten turtles.
Wentworth was starting to feel unusually strange in his heart, mind, spirit, and soul because the extremely powerful psychedelics were kicking in. He wasn’t quite certain if taking 50 hits of Grateful Dead LSD, a huge ball of Magic Psilocybin Mushrooms and Very Pure DMT at the same time was the grandest idea he’d ever had. He’ll find out sooner rather than later.
Massive earthquakes started shaking the house, yard, and street. The sky turned purple, and the pouring rain was green. He just saw a ten-foot-tall orange lady with a tail and mustache riding a skateboard. Superman was powerless and running from a kryptonite moose with white wings. Suddenly his living room phased, shifted and exploded into absolute total complete unending darkness. He heard what he thought was him saying “Bob Hall you have now entered into the state of complete nothingness, and you will vanish from your own awareness…Forever.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?

Maxine Flam

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Unglorious War Revised Edition is my second book because it is a revision of my first book. I am currently working on putting together a group of short crime stories most of which have been published by magazines.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Unglorious War Revised Edition and it was inspired by my association with veterans, from Vietnam, Korea, and WW2. I also had the honor of talking to a medic who was in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I mostly write in the afternoon and at night. I like to have the TV on in the background even though I’m not watching it. I can’t have music and I can’t have quiet. Something about the TV helps me write and think what needs to be done.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
I have a friend who is a writer, a prolific one, who has written at least 15 books. Her name is Jamie Lynn Miller and while I haven’t read all her books, I have enjoyed the ones I have. I like Stephen King because his first story, Carrie took thirty times before it was accepted and he didn’t give up. It gives me the incentive to keep on.

What are you working on now?
A short story collection of crime mystery. I am also involved in trying to take a script I wrote and convert it into a novella/novel.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am still looking for a method.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t give up. Many popular authors are where you are. They were turned down. You have to have a thick hide-and-accept turn-downs. I had one short story turned down 300 times and was finally accepted. I believed some out there would publish it and I found a home for it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Writers fear two things:
Someone will read their work and
Someone won’t read their work.
Keep going and don’t give up.

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, I’m Skye, and I’m here to make you laugh, cry, & swoon! My romances are all about strong women learning to love themselves before they can claim their “Happily Ever After” partnership. (Spoiler: they always do!)

I currently have 11 books available, although I’ve written several more than that. Confession: I love making standalone series that create a rich world for you to dive into, no matter which book you begin with!

So, here are my books:
The Anti-Belle Series: Contemporary romances set in Nashville, TN. Office rivals, second chance, enemies to lovers, she’s the billionaire, single parent hidden identity… I bet I’ve written your favorite trope in this 6-book set!

The Connecticut Commodores: Hockey small-town romances. I am a huge hockey fan, and that shows in these books!

The Unlikely Pairings Series: Contemporary romances written as Sarah Skye. This trilogy was co-authored, and it is just so fun!

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
SCORED ON is my new release. It’s book 2 in my hockey series, so hockey inspired it. But there’s more…

Ethan (the MMC) has a drinking problem. That was inspired by people in my life who have put down the bottle for good.

Stella (FMC) has always bowed to her parents’ decisions. When she falls for “bad” boy Ethan, she must make her own choices. The song “But Daddy I Love Him” definitely gave me some oomph when it came to writing several scenes!

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I always have to have a beverage beside me. And I like listening to lyrical music, which many do not!

Oh, and I hold a dance party in my office when I finish a book!

What authors, or books have influenced you?
Brenna Aubrey’s Gaming the System series was an early influence, as was Christina Lauren’s Beautiful series. I also love Jules Barnard and Bella Andre for the way they create worlds within their series.

What are you working on now?
I am deep in my hockey era. In the Crease, Commodores book 3, will be out in September. After that… well, that’s a secret for now. 😉

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I promote my books on Facebook, my own website, and also by attending book events. Those are the places I have most success connecting to readers.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write. Just write. Then worry about the rest!

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“In ten years’ time, will you regret it if you don’t publish your books?”

What are you reading now?
Blood Rogue by Linda Parisi

What’s next for you as a writer?
I am attending a lot of events this summer, so that is on deck. But my next project is a secret right now!

What is your favorite book of all time?
A Wrinkle in Time. (Bet you weren’t expecting that one!)
