Date, Ditch, or Do… My by Lola Gray
“How did your date go last night?” A disembodied voice interrupts the otherwise perfect silence of my office. My assistant, Olivia, has left her intercom on again. I meant to warn her about that the last time it happened, but then I got busy with work and forgot about it entirely. At least I did until her friend from HR, the frizzy blonde, showed up.
What date? Olivia never mentioned that she’s seeing someone. Not that it would be appropriate to discuss her personal life with her boss, but still. We’ve developed a friendship, I thought. In the least, a tolerable working environment.
If she’s dating some clod, I need to know these things. Good assistants are hard to find. There’s a twinge under my ribs. Hmmm. Must be heartburn.
It’s time to shake things up around here. If I don’t make a move soon, that managing mama of hers will finally fix her up with someone who isn’t a degenerate or a reject, and I’ll lose her forever. As my assistant, of course.
