In the Land of the Living: A Novel

About In the Land of the Living: A Novel

A DEEPLY CATHARTIC EXPLORATION INTO THE HUMAN CONDITION

There is an unrelenting presence that stirs a restless longing within Duncan. A longing to know the truth…His new stepfather, James, is an unwelcomed addition to his life. No amount of time or distance seems to be able to heal the deep-seated bitterness that strains their relationship. It only forces him to grapple with a childhood he would rather forget. Yet, all the while, God has not forgotten Duncan or the pain he suffers. In fact, He has been the One purposefully orchestrating it all, both calamity and blessing.

How can God turn such turmoil into something beautiful and good? Duncan’s life is one such example that answers this very question, albeit in an unexpected way. Told in vignettes, this evocative story of trauma, grief, and forgiveness shines an honest light on the corruption and hope of the human spirit.

Concerning Fanaticism in The Human Race by Massimo Fantini

About Concerning Fanaticism in The Human Race by Massimo Fantini

Elijah is a promising young lawyer, in love with his work and confident in the potential of the human race.

His law firm’s senior partner gives him his first important assignment. Elijah will have to follow the case of Leonard, an elderly engineer who lives in Montepastore, a small village in the Bolognese Apennines (Italy).

Leonard’s question concerns the supplementary contribution that engineers enrolled in the professional register are required to pay to Inarcassa, the Engineers’ Pension Fund. At first, the case seems simple. It was the subject of a previous ruling by the Court of Cassation. But Leonard is not satisfied with an institutional response. He wants to know why. He wants to know what hides behind the Supreme Court’s ruling.

Leonard’s demands grow meeting after meeting, and the subject of the dispute widens to include ethical, religious, and historical concerns.

As in the previous manuscripts, questions about the human condition are at the center of this philosophical debate. In the absence of answers, what is the point of writing about anything else?

PRINCESS IN THE POLICE STATION by J.P. Reedman

About PRINCESS IN THE POLICE STATION by J.P. Reedman

1964, Workmen digging on a bombsite in London uncover a hidden vault containing a lead coffin. The coffin is almost reburied in a mass grave in a local churchyard, but an old retired policeman, examining the sarcophagus in the police station where the find has been taken, notices a plaque attached to the leaden lid. What he reads, stuns him–this is not a an unknown medieval nun or noblewoman.
The coffin’s occupant is a child–a Princess, Anne Mowbray, wife of Richard of Shrewsbury, one of the infamous Princes in the Tower, who disappeared in 1483…

1470’s. Elizabeth is the Dowager Duchess of Norfolk. King Edward IV has expressed a wish that the widow’s only child, Anne, might marry his younger son, Richard. Unwillingly, she agrees, even though the marriage contract will cause her to lose her dower lands, and if Anne should die young, all the Norfolk lands would go to her young husband instead of blood relatives. But she dares not deny the King, for Elizabeth is the sister of Eleanor Talbot…the King’s secret wife from years before. If the King suspects she knows the truth of his relationship with Eleanor, all she loves is in danger, for her knowledge could threaten his throne…

So at just five years old, Anne is married to an even younger Prince Richard in a grand ceremony, but Elizabeth fears for her child’s future in Edward’s decadent court.
And soon the thing she fears most comes to pass…

Dual timeline story set in the 1960’s and the years 1472-1502, following the finding of Anne Mowbray’s coffin, through the story of her brief life, burial and first reburial as witnessed by her mother, Elizabeth Talbot, to her final reinterment in Westminster Abbey.

Finding Joy by Tara White

Finding Joy by Tara White

Have you spent your life giving so much of yourself to others that you no longer know who you are anymore?

40-year-old Joy Donnoly, recently widowed following her husband’s decade-long progressive illness, finds herself all alone after her triplets leave for college and university.

Without anyone to take care of for the first time in two decades, Joy realizes she has given so much of herself to take care of her family that she lost herself in the process. Unable to figure out what to do next, she falls into a depression, losing herself to television and social media to cope with her grief. When her daughters step in to do an “intervention” Joy begins a journey to rediscover herself and find a new way forward.

Join Joy on her journey of self-discovery, as she fights her way through the darkness to reclaim her identity, and in doing so, not only finds herself but finds a way to step into her future with happiness and joy.

Author Tara White wrote the majority of this book on location in Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia (literally sitting on the rocks looking out into the Atlantic Ocean), and in Waikoloa, Hawaii, two of the settings in the book. The rocks and ocean on the book cover are from an actual picture taken during one of her writing sessions. She visited Nova Scotia many times a year in one of her prior jobs and took advantage of the opportunity to get out to Peggy’s Cove to squeeze in a few hours of writing on her trips. Peggy’s Cove quickly became her magical writing place where, as soon as she sits down on the rocks and opens her laptop, her fingers just start flying across the keyboard and the characters come to life! Since she started visiting Peggy’s Cove fairly regularly over five years ago, she has easily spent over a couple of hundred hours on the rocks, and on many of those visits, she searched the ocean for a whale or a dolphin, without one sighting. On her last trip to Peggy’s Cove, with her completed manuscript in the rental car in the parking lot, she was goofing around taking some sample pictures for the book cover and she saw a dolphin! She watched as the dolphin jumped out of the water, moving back and forth in front of her as it moved farther away, under the setting sun. At that moment, Tara felt the connection to her main character in one of the scenes in her book, feeling pure joy and excitement while standing on the rocks!

Tara is a Radical Change Coach and energy healer. Her life mission, in addition to entertaining people with her stories, is to help empower people to heal and transform their lives so that they can live the life of their dreams, with joy and happiness.
